So long as you build your bunker to hide from the real right wing conservative/ERG/Brexit party lot you are going to open the political landscape up to in the near future because your beloved party isn't going to be anywhere near power for a long time Len.

Be careful what you wish for is all i will say and Letwin and co might find their mates in Brussels are no longer so friendly.

Its a funny old game is politics.
FYI mate I don't expect Labour to win the next election and (with regret) expect the " deal " to pass eventually because the EU are pissed off with us and they want it to happen.
But I will savour Bojo having to eat his words and dig that ditch if as a result of "Letwin" he has to ask for an extension.
Those small " victories" can mean a lot, bit like being a City fan 1979 to 2008 ( and also in my case 1961 to 1965).

I agree that adequate time must be given for proper scrutiny of the bill. Most important thing in the Letwin amendment though is ensuring that we can’t crash out without a deal further down the line.
Explain that part to me please. I haven’t seen the Letwin amendment.
How does it guard against no deal further down the line.

As I understand it, it would mean Parliament withhold approval of Johnson’s deal until the legislation to actually enact it was safely passed. Just safeguards against the Benn Act being rendered redundant by the deal passing tomorrow.

Which once again is a COMPLETELY shit and idiotic idea.

How on EARTH are we expected to agree the best deal with the EU if we unilaterally tie ourselves to either accepting whatever shite the EU deem to throw or, or alternatively being locked in forever? What a stupid thing to do.

This is s serious question, Ric. If we rule out no deal then it immediately becomes in the EU's best interest to give us a shitty deal. Either we accept it (shit for us, great for them) or we stay tied to EU rules for even longer (shit for us, great for them).

Can you not see this? The Letwin option stitches us up a kipper. I suspect this is his intention actually, only some people are too daft to realise it.

Watching Have I got news for you, imagine being so far into the establishment one of the family can be the pm and the dad, sister and brother can all have different views and opinions.

If my sister was pm , it would just be wow wow wow all the way.

I was referring to your amnesia regarding the mess Thatcher took over from. Heath came before Thatcher.

Heath's miserable policy failures paved the way for Thatcher. It was the perfect time for her to take over. Britain was in crisis after the OPEC fiasco and Heath's incomes policy resulted in the miner's strike. Labour took over in 74 with the country in a mess, had to go to the IMF for a bailout as Heath had virtually destroyed the economy with his inflationary policies. The nation was also split over Europe (nothing changes) the Lib Dems had the Thorpe scandal, it was the perfect storm.

That incomes policy of Heath's was one of the most damaging in the countries history, it was a ridiculous attempt to appease the Unions but failed becaue it encouraged the Unions to seek parity across industries. The Unions ultimately copped the blame, but it was Heath who caused it and it was the milk snatcher who reaped the rewards.

Good point. Pretty sure we can trust Johnson here. He seems a fairly scrupulous type of guy.

Pretty sure we have things like general elections where god forbid people can vote out a government who say for instance shit on workers rights. You usually post a bit more sensibly but saying the deal erodes workers rights is a bit Untruthful and your second statement that we will all be worse off is a tad dodgy as well.

This brexit thread gets us all, on this trajectory you will be thread banning yourself come Sunday:-)
