Well given they don’t understand that passing the Withdrawal Agreement doesn’t ‘get Brexit done’ I think we can boil the question choice down to two understandable options

1. Do you want this interminable shit to carry on for a decade?

2.Do you want to never hear the fucking word ‘Brexit’ ever again?

The swearing is optional.
What would be the chance of the nation voting leave again in INDYREF#2?

2 might just get through I think

Landslide I reckon :)

Seriously though all we are doing is repeating the same mistakes of the last three years.

When we triggered A50 it was stated with full confidence that not only would we get the divorce settlement done but the future trade relationship sorted. Easy as pie. What actually happened was we imposed a deadline on ourselves and finally capitulated as the clock ran down in in a desperate attempt to ‘leave’ on 31st Oct.

Yet leave just means 14 months of transition and ‘we are confident that we can get the future trade relationship sorted in that 14 months’. Sound familiar? Unrealistic timeframes with a gun at our heads. What could possibly go wrong. And you guys still want to press ahead. Yeah we will promise big things like Cameron did and May and Johnson but in trade gravity and size is king and it will take years of negotiation and every one of these years we will either be in transition or in an ‘interim holding deal’ which will see our trade policy under the control of the EU with zero say in its formulation.

No wonder everyone thinks we have lost our minds. It’s utter stupidity.

It's deliberate. Sets up no deal in Dec 2020.

The Government think this 'deal' will harm the economy to the tune of 4-6%. But they want to do it anyway and also want the Opposition Party to vote for it - I cannot think of any other Government policy which their own forecast suggested an economic hit that said Government would go through with it anyway, never-mind the Opposition being criticized for not voting for it

For every Amber Rudd who is anti Boris and very much for promoting herself as a future Tory leader there is a Mervyn King who says brexit wont cause huge damage.

Somehow I don't think we would be hearing this argument if leave had won by 4%

The only people who seem to think it was a bad idea are usually those on the losing side. That is just human nature.

Most people aren't fools its politicians that think that are cleverer than them and can take them for fools that are
. This bit is very true, This is why those that have consistently tried to overturn the ref result in Parliament using every excuse under the sun will suffer at the next GE. It is also apparent that many know this, that is why many of them are conveniently stepping down at the next GE. You could call it a cowards way out ?

Oh we would have been hearing plenty, I take this notion of a clear referendum result from a political academic on this (sorry don't have his name) Referendums are a bad idea when you are like this was trying to outsource a political parties major issue.

No. It’s just Mervyn King. And what does he mean won’t cause ‘huge damage’. So it will cause a bit of damage? What happened to all the sunlit uplands and nothing will change except the increased flow of milk and honey throughout the land?

You’re meant to be selling Brexit not damning it.

I have sat on the fence throughout this whole charade, primarily because I do not believe the use of direct democracy in a representative democracy is in any way the correct option to solve anything. I have thought long and hard about this, I have always lent towards the lexit position because of my Socialist principles and I have come to a conclusion, for the first time I am no longer a 51/49 49/51 person I am now a 52/48 person.

As a result of genuinely trying to understand it all, even though a lot of it is way above my knowledge and intelligence I now realise for certain that we do have to leave, and the sooner the better. Simply because this impasse is tearing the country apart.

12 months ago I wasn't sure, 6 moths ago I was uncertain, now I know we have to and that whether we all agree or not we must. The referendum for its flaws and there were many has to be enacted upon. Then those who want to remain can campaign to rejoin if they wish but the democratic mandate will have been fulfilled and above all democracy must prevail.

I think Johnsons deal is shit, I think he is lying narcissistic philandering twat, I despise him and his deal is not good for the country but we are where we are and it has to end somewhere. I don't think any of us had any idea of the rancour this referendum would cause and the fallout will last a generation, the effects of it may well make us poorer, allow the hard right Tories to have their Singapore on Thames dreamland and it will damage our standing in the world. But the majority voted for it and without democracy what are we?
Better off all round by the sound of that post!

Amber Rudd is in the government so has presumably seen the impact assessments/forecasts.

In regards Rudd’s career ambitions, there is absolutely no chance of her being Tory leader in the near future. They have gone full-UKIP hence any reasonable leadership debate never got going and Johnson walked it. After him it will be another card carrying no-dealer(or at least that will be the pitch) until Farage decides they are not Brexitey enough and round and round it goes

No there isn’t and that will have been stopped by people voting for mays deal or Boris deal

Leaving with a deal is the only compromise and only way of achieving what you stated.

Unfortunately the tv and radio likes to interview extreme views, farage, Swindon, snp , but the reality is most people just want an end to this
Some still looking to crash out on WTO terms (whatever they are) at the end of transition.

Inward investment will never return while that is still hanging over us.

The trouble we’re going to have is that the opposition will reject any Brexit deal the Tories come up with.

Every Brexit deal is going to make us worse off but a FTA, or the opportunity to agree one once the WA has been passed, has to be accepted now.

I think Corbyn knows he’s political screwed if he votes for the deal but the fact is, he could be screwed if he continues to try and block it.

The vote should have taken place on Saturday, it’s embarrassing that it didn’t.

There wont be a FTA ... as the Tories have removed the commitment to a level playing field from the legally binding section of the WA

Got to be revocation then otherwise Brexit will just go on and on. "Some people think it will be over - like childbirth. Just get it over with." Wait till the mewling, puking and dirty nappies start. And that's just Rees Mogg.

It didn't because Johnson pulled it. I wonder why? He and his camp are now saying/lying that they 'have the numbers' so we shall see how it pans out this week. He seems to be a little desperate to stop his deal getting the proper scrutiny though. Goodness knows why that would be.
Maybe because a bunch of people trying to prevent us leaving will have longer to pick holes in it?
