I wouldn't worry mate. Labour are a minimum of 10-15 years away from winning an election.

Theyve lurched so far and so fast to the right that anyone who is attracted to them may as well do the honest thing and vote conservative. All in the name of getting Jeremy and John a matching pair of ermine overcoats.

It's a sad state of affairs when the British working class have to rely on a right wing Tory govt to enact their wishes.
Too far to the RIGHT? @Rascal likes that post!!

The DUP ... campaigned for Brexit not Remain.

Well the they lost. NI voted to Remain.

I wonder how many of those 1.26m people are so monumentally pissed off at being more closely aligned with the EU?

Johnson pivoted??? You mean had his legs taken out from under him. With a resolute determination to get Brexit done by Oct 31, and Parliament stymieing "no deal" as an option, then his ONLY option is to pursue a deal as hard as he can, isn't it.

I don't know if you made your throw away line as an implied criticism of Johnson. Maybe I am being too touchy about it. But it does piss me off when people seem to want to criticize the bloke for absolutely anything and everything he tries to do. I mean the other day, people criticizing him for sending the letter to the EU FFS, when Parliament had compelled him to. WTF do they expect him to do in such circumstances???!

Wasn’t a criticism. He saw the situation, reacted and took the only path open to him. The alternative was fighting the Benn Act and then pushing for an election and fighting it as the ‘no deal’ champion. That would have been reckless in my view. Crafting a deal was not reckless and he did the sensible thing.

The various tick tock’s of the events leading up to a deal suggest that Johnson had largely pivoted from no deal anyway. The Benn Act gave him legitimate cover.

No deal is a red herring. The face to face with Varadkar revealed that both men really wanted a deal and where determined to get a deal. Johnson himself said no deal would be a failure of state craft and he is right it would have been. And it would have been his failure.

Agree with that as well.

I think all his "no deal" posturing was for two things only: (1) to give him as much clout in the EU negotiations as possible (notwithstanding it being somewhat of a hollow threat) and (2) to keep the ERG on board.

Who gives a fuck apparently it’s the biggest thing since the Second World War apparently and this little jumped up twat wants to not allow a vote on the Eu deal a technicality

bullshit

Thems the rules. And if it is the most important thing to sort out since WW2, why have we put a time limit on ourselves? What’s the rush? Better to get it right

I know. And we also know that NI is not governed by majority rule. It is governed by cross community consensus. Either everybody buys in or no one buys in. That is the basis for NI rule. The new arrangements state that if they are renewed by cross community support then they are set for 8 years not 4 thereby allowing the disgruntled side to revisit the issue earlier.

You mean we now get to scrutinise, debate and vote on the actual Bill that is published at 6 this evening? How will democracy survive this crushing blow.
