Liverpool thread 2019/20

Can someone help me out: I was chatting to a Liverpool fan mate, and I said that if Liverpool don't win the league this season then it will be a significant collapse on their part. He was fuming at this, banging on about how they did nothing wrong last season and that the same could happen again. This was in the context of me saying that I thought going to OT and not winning showed a real weakness, particularly knowing that a win last season would have won them the league.

I know you take one game at a time, right, but if City were 7 points clear one season and 8 the next you'd happily accept that you should be winning it. I'd be quietly confident about it, but that's part of the pressure of winning leagues?

I don't understand how they want to be the Best Team in Europe and Mentality Giants without accepting that it you go 8 points clear any time in the season anything less than the title is failure.

If City went 8 points clear the bookies would start paying out.

They weren't cheated out of wining the Premier League in 2014 and last year though, they did what they did to our team coach.....

Bottled it!

Get your point about them revilling in being the victims (never their fault) though!

I can understand why they don't like the word, but I don't know what else to call it. All the shite last year about "maybe Liverpool will be better chasing" that came from Carragher et al - that's fucking small time, and if City fans said it we'd be fucking laughed at.

I believed Leicester fans when they were chatting about not believing it even when they needed one point from the last 8 games or whatever. I believed United fans when they arrogantly would tell me it would be a terrible season if they didn't win the league. Liverpool apparently want to be The Greatest Team of All Time and European Giants while also being the plucky underdogs. It means more to them, but they'll settle for a point at a shit United side and if they get second they'll be sad but it won't be because they did anything wrong? Eh?

They'll always have 6 times, plucky underdogs in life eh?

Looks like Chelsea fans nipped over to Genk after their game at Ajax - totally feasible so not sure why Candlepool fans getting it in the neck for anything racist. I mean they don't have form or anything unlike Chelsea fans. Merseyside have said they will be looking in to the reports and expect to conclude their investigation by nine today

Ok, I think I've gotten to the bottom of this banner business. Origi's nickname amongst Liverpool fans is "Big Cock" which is a play on his christian name Divock, and as such the banner wasn't racist or racial stereotyping, even in a positive sense (take note United fans - your positive stereotyping of Lukaku in that song a couple of years ago makes you morally inferior to the Liverpool fans responsible for this banner), so thankfully that clears that up. Of course, this also exonerates those who came up with the idea because at no point would it ever have crossed their minds that a banner of a naked black man with a humungous schlong on public display inside a football stadium would cause any offence to anyone, either racially or otherwise, such as those with kids, for example, who would be expected not to find it inappropriate in any way whatsoever.

European Royalty my backside.. They know and we know we've got their number and they haven't got the balls to stand up and say 'we're grabbing the league by the scruff of the neck, we're going to show everyone that we're the team to beat, we're European Royalty don't' cha know'..
They'd rather hide behind the facade of being plucky little Dippers, 'we're sooo unlucky, nasty City with their zillions beat us and it's not fair.
We should get a trophy for 97 points too!' How small-time is that...
Well for any lurking dippers and that includes you, Airbag, even though you support multiple l teams, let me tell you..

1. Not unlucky - Bottled it!
2. Everyone and I mean everyone can't stand your team!
3. You've spent the most money since last winning the league without winning it!
4. 2014, 2018.. All good things come in 3's
5. Keep looking over your shoulder 'cos we're right there. 10 point lead last season reeled in, 8 points this, down to 6, even though you increased your lead over us over the weekend (how's that work Airbag?)

Keep diving dippers and hope VAR is your friend 'cos everyone else loathes you!!

Even funnier just heard on the radio that 2 dippers turned up at Ghent - not Genk lol

I see the goal the referee ruled out for Genk is now history. After a very long Var review it looked offside but it was not clear, however the ref immediately blew to rule it out without any reason to and he could not have seen the offside. Then Mane clearly having a go at the ref and dissent not cautioned, Fabino not cautioned when committing his 4th or 5th foul to stop a break away then the ref gives them a free kick right outside the area for a clear dive. Its easy to get to the CL final when you are being looked after with decisions by the officials like they have been the last few years

I saw that looked a clear dive but the replay was cut short and then never mentioned again.

Strange that not
