Like the government invested in British Rail? And like they invested in British Leyland? And such a great job they did with our coal industry, steel industry?

Do you not remember ANY of that shit? It's quite bizarre, it really is.
We live in an increasingly technology focused world, if we penny pinch and fall behind technologically we will suffer long term. It's why both parties want to invest in our internet infrastructure (albeit different ways)

You seem to miss understood mate.

working 4 days a week will not mean a pay cut.

Honest it wont.

facebook and Google will be paying for it........

Imagine how much their profits will rise though when everyone has free broadband, pays for itself. Seriously don’t do this and we will have broadband banks for the poor.

You do know that none of the private companies build or are responsible for maintenance of the tracks? That is Network Rail which is 100% government owned.

The internet equivalent would be the government owning and maintaining the fibre infrastructure and private companies (ISPs) paying to provide services to consumers. The rail equivalent of the government providing some free services would be providing one really slow train a week.

Pretty much yeah.

What market would there be for private ISP's for paying customers when the government is promising full speed access for free?

Only asking because you're an expert.

Thanks.

In all seriousness you must watch these giveaways from Labour and the Tories are doing it as well and think come on reign it in there is a limit to what people will believe.

Take any bias out of it and see it all for what it is.
Investing in infrastructure is important mate. There's a reason Singapore are top of the league so to speak in terms of internet speed

It's good for the economy to push on in terms of technology

I despair at all three parties.
Tories - Johnson, bumbling idiot, Shitty Brexit WA followed by at best a trade deal that mirrors being a member but without a say or at worst a really shitty deal/no deal. End result economy fucked.
Labour - Ludicrous nationalisation pledges that will fuck up the economy.
Lib Dems - Cancel Brexit at all costs except ruling out the only way that it would be achievable (coalition with Labour) thereby handing election to Tories
Good summary. Unfortunately (1) is the least worst option by far. Crap though it may be.

Perhaps that should be the Tories' election slogan? "Marginally less crap than Labour". A real vote winner.

They're not. They would be providing the equivalent of the M6 Toll but just a 1100cc Austin Allegro to drive on it. You'd pay the ISPs for the decent cars.

Disagree. Although Labour's nationalisation plans are ridiculous there's no way they'd get them through without major changes and we'd still be in the EU. Whatever the Tories achieve with Brexit, it would be a millstone around the country's neck forever.

I'm intrigued as to how you have got your hands on this detail because I've just listened to Corbyn again and its not what he says is on offer.

Full fibre high speed broadband for all and free and Google, hope you are listening he said, it will be paid for by tax.

I think you and Bob have invented an offer here to be honest?

It isn't.

Labour are promising full high speed access to all for free.

HS2 broadband for fuck all.

His one slow train a week isn't what's being promised Bob.

Yes. They are pledging, based on what we know so far, full high speed access to everyone for free. A good thing in my opinion as this will add to the economy in this increasingly tech based world.

However that is access. I haven’t read anywhere that they are promising free content other than that content that can already be accessed for free.

I get you hate Corbyn and all his minions and obviously no good will ever come of listening to him or said minions and perish the thought we should discuss the intent or scope of any plans they publish because, well, they are evil (obvs) but I have enjoyed listening to an actual idea with some actual detail, and spinning my own ideas and thoughts on how it could work. In contrast all we have got from the Tories so far is a bigger bus. I’ve no doubt it’s a nice bus, a great bus even, but it’s still just a fucking bus.

The more press coverage I read, watch or listen to, the more convinced I am that many of the policies and replies from the senior politicians are simply made up on the spot. It's laughable....i think.

It is but promising to throw the kitchen sink at every possible thing you can think of will I’m afraid lead to the inevitable loss of a general election. Think of the good things that could have been achieved that will be lost due to mind boggling stupidity.

You know how it works

You promised 200000 houses you have built 2 “we must do better”

You said waiting times would go down to 1 hour, they are 3 hours “we must do better”

You said we would have a 4 day week “we must do better”

You claim you would eradicate poverty, we meant relative poverty which we haven’t done but “we must do better”

You said you would get 50 billion extra from amazon and the like but it’s not happening “we must do better”

I could go on and on.

Promise a few things that seem reasonable, deliver it, don’t break the economy, gain trust, get elected again do more.

The Tories are at their all time low all it would take to beat them is decent realistic alternatives.
