I was right. You've wasted your time.
It was not even remotely disingenuous to say that Labour thought austerity and public spending cuts were necessary. Unfortunate for your argument I know but Brown supported it, Alastair Darling supported it, and even 4 years later even Red Ed Milliband supported it. Sorry about that old chap.
And your ridiculously simplistic "borrow more because money is cheap" argument (how fucking convenient) completely fails to even contemplate the effect of excessive borrowing on the bond markets and interest rates. Had we continued to run a deficit at the £150bn level or as you would suggest, even higher, then interest rates would necessarily have risen and we'd have been truly fucked. Mortgages would have gone up, public spending further depressed, repossessions up, cost of borrowing up and falling tax receipts leading to more taxation, more borrowing and a downward spiral. Anyone with any sense recognised this, even Labour.
Just as we would be fucked if God forbid that dickhead Corbyn gets in, with the correspondingly inevitable increase in interest rates and borrowing costs, collapse of the pound and enforced currency controls. McDonnell would turn us into Greece in a matter of months, and perhaps even deliberately, bearing in mind his stated objective of destroying the capitilist system.
Oh, and by the way, did you say something about politics not being tribal and not being like supporting a football team? Have you SEEN the posts on here???
