The bbc interviewed them. They think lefty PC snowflake elites waved in lots of foreigners who are to blame for everything, and when we leave they will magically disappear. The sunderland man was 2016's workington man. Farage certainly found his hook.
You are absolutely correct, but sadly no ammount of sneering, condescention, or being right is likely to change the mind of Workington /Sunderland man. The time to do that was by addressing his concerns 20 years ago. The problem with democracy is that even folk who are wrong get one vote each.

True. I didn't suggest otherwise.

I remember watching those interviews quite well. Moment of clarity and all that.

It was obvious, the volume of people that had bought into the blamestorming simplification, would not look back, and that the brexit vote was likely. It was probably also the first time i truly felt that i wished the 2014 vote had maybe gone otherwise, given the evident huge disparity in shared values and the direction of the pull.

I realise that it is largely a waste of my time with you, your mind is closed.

However, I will say this and you may find if you care to research what I am about to say you may understand that my opinions are not so flawed

Austerity was not necessary, nor was it the correct course of action and the fact you say everyone including Labour agreed with it is disingenuous.
The correct course of action in the circumstances would have been to attempt to re-inflate the economy not choke it further with austerity. As I have said to you before a country is not a corner shop and should not be treated the as one. Macro-economics versus micro-economics. All the suffering that has ensued for that point and I don't use that word lightly has been unnecessary and avoidable.
This austerity also laid the groundwork for the leave vote in 2016 which will ultimately heap more suffering on the people of this country.
Our public services are in tatters and will not easily recover. If we Brexit I can see no hope of any recovery in the foreseeable future as the tax take falls in real terms with the economy,
Who is responsible for Brexit I wonder ? Yes, the Conservatives of course.

I could write a fucking book on the disgusting behaviour of this Tory Govt and it's callous disregard for the people it is supposed to serve but as you say it would be a waste of my time. You will carry on voting for these dreadful people. It is instructive that so may senior Tories have left the party, no longer able to stomach the actions of the current leadership.

BTW - it's pathetic for a grown man to 'support' a political party like he would a football team. Try growing up and applying some critical thinking.
I was right. You've wasted your time.

It was not even remotely disingenuous to say that Labour thought austerity and public spending cuts were necessary. Unfortunate for your argument I know but Brown supported it, Alastair Darling supported it, and even 4 years later even Red Ed Milliband supported it. Sorry about that old chap.

And your ridiculously simplistic "borrow more because money is cheap" argument (how fucking convenient) completely fails to even contemplate the effect of excessive borrowing on the bond markets and interest rates. Had we continued to run a deficit at the £150bn level or as you would suggest, even higher, then interest rates would necessarily have risen and we'd have been truly fucked. Mortgages would have gone up, public spending further depressed, repossessions up, cost of borrowing up and falling tax receipts leading to more taxation, more borrowing and a downward spiral. Anyone with any sense recognised this, even Labour.

Just as we would be fucked if God forbid that dickhead Corbyn gets in, with the correspondingly inevitable increase in interest rates and borrowing costs, collapse of the pound and enforced currency controls. McDonnell would turn us into Greece in a matter of months, and perhaps even deliberately, bearing in mind his stated objective of destroying the capitilist system.

Oh, and by the way, did you say something about politics not being tribal and not being like supporting a football team? Have you SEEN the posts on here???

After all these years, I’m not overly sure what a working class man/women in (say) Sunderland thinks is going to happen if/when a pretty right-wing Tory government takes us out of the EU?

From what I see on our local news they - and the monkey hangers - are of the opinion it will be great. Jobs for all - loads of investment in the area and no immigrants ( less than 2% of folk say they were born outside the UK in the area ) - they struggle when they are asked why do they think the Tory govt hasn't already invested in the area and why there are no jobs ( highest unemployment rate in the country ) and are shocked when you explain that those jobs will mean no more JSA for them but back to early mornings and going out to work. Many of the working class in the area no longer see themselves as working class. They don't think they are middle class - they just don't work.

I just don't get why people want to leave, if its immigration it will continue to grow to keep wages low, that's the tory way. If its law making, our parliamentarians are utter Sh**t at it. Better left to those who are sensible and know what they are doing. If it trade deals, we don't make anything, and our food production is very expensive and wont be able to cope with international competition. We will also be loosing all the free trade deals that the EU have negotiated, it will take us tens of years to get anyway near. If its the money we pay in, we will end up paying more to prop up our economy. We will still pay the farmers and land owners after we leave, just with our cash rather than the EU subsidy. Now when I retire I don't want to live in the UK in winter. Spain was always a good cheep option, that will be messed up for us. If its a free trade deal with the US, they will take us to the cleaners. We will be eating genetically modified food faster that you can say chlorine washed chicken. If its to reduce the rights of workers, it may happen but I am against it. just don't see the great benefits.

Leadsom this morning talking about the ‘brightest and best’ when asked why non-EU immigration was 250,000 (this year) when they can control those numbers and always have. She did the equivalent of putting her knickers on her head, put two pencils up her nose and said “wibble”......

I'll save them the bother. You lost.

So none of that matters.

Aaron banks calling us Northern Monkeys eh? All his private messages leaked you love to see it.

was just on twitter reading what was there - funny as given his track record for data breeches - also seems he dropped Priti Patel £1000 ( ironically a couple of monkeys lol ) to meet her for tea. Something she didn't declare in the members interests .
