The Labour Party

Dave Ward - CWU leader - on Sky just now. He says electing Labour will bring about a fundamental shift of power away from companies to their workers.

'Them' - the bankers, the billionaires, the multinationals, the bad bosses, the big polluters, the media barons, the dodgy landlords, the profiteering health corporations, the rip off utility owners, the untaxed internet giants, the rich and the powerful - all hate 'us' - the workers.

4,134 estimated number of people sleeping rough in 2016 on a single night in Autumn across England (source: Crisis), according to this Labour politician 3,000 of them in Brent!!
How can anyone contemplate voting for a party whose public representatives have little, or no, grasp of numbers?

I've not watched it but has she confused homelessness with rough-sleepers?

Dianne Abbott has serious competition in the Labour numbers game, this one makes her look like Stephen Hawking...

Not really much of a gaffe, she's probably confusing homelessness with rough sleeping.

Although I think the big problem in the Labour Party at the minute right now is that there are more ideologues in the party than reasonable, facts-and-figures people and Dawn Butler is definitely an ideologue.

Oh it's a gaffe alright, if that were the case she'd have put Ferrari straight about rough sleepers, instead she waffled about
numbers, which is compounding the gaffe.

Labours manifesto.

anybody who wants to better themselves and have ambition and work hard create a better life for themselves or their family don’t bother , labour will introduce tax disincentives to stop you.

if they get in there will be a housing crash and people not able to rent properties as what is the point in being a landlord anymore.

The working class man is far better off voting for the Torys. By far.
That they seem to do more often than not, suggests that they have good reason to, as under Labour there are
many more of them that end up not working, for a start. The left put it down to some innate need of the working class
that compels them to stay forelock tugging and cow towing to their betters, it sort of gives a salve to their incredulity,
the pure hard life facts, say otherwise.

None whatsoever, private rental would dry up quicker than a shower in the Sahara, who on earth would even consider
renting a property?

The manifesto is like something straight from venezuala. It is simply mind boggling that anyone could vote for these fucking idiots. the fact that teh only people i can seem to find who admit to voting to them are basically kids themselves says it all.

You obviously haven't read it, but I look forward to read the tory manifesto.

  • Giving everyone full rights from day one on the job.
  • Strengthening protections for whistleblowers and rights against unfair dismissal for all workers, with extra protections for pregnant women, those going through the menopause and terminally ill workers.
  • Ending bogus self-employment and creating a single status of ‘worker’ for everyone apart from those genuinely self-employed in business on their own account, so that employers can not evade workers’ rights; and banning overseas-only recruitment practices.
  • Introducing a legal right to collective consultation on the implementation of new technology in workplaces.
  • Banning zero-hour contracts and strengthening the law so that those who work regular hours for more than 12 weeks will have a right to a regular contract, reflecting those hours.
We will help people balance work and family life by:

  • Increasing wages through sectoral collective bargaining.
  • Requiring breaks during shifts to be paid.
  • Requiring cancelled shifts to be paid and proper notice for changes in hours.
  • Giving all workers the right to flexible working.
  • Extending statutory maternity pay from nine to 12 months.
  • Doubling paternity leave from two weeks to four and increasing statutory paternity pay.
  • Introducing statutory bereavement leave, guaranteeing workers time off to grieve the loss of close family members or following miscarriage.
  • Introducing four new bank holidays celebrating our four patron saints’ days.
  • Reviewing family-friendly employment rights, including rights to respond to family emergencies.
We will make sure people are treated equally at work by:

  • Requiring employers to devise and implement plans to eradicate the gender pay gap – and pay inequalities underpinned by race and/or disability – or face fines.
  • Requiring employers to maintain workplaces free of harassment, including harassment by third parties.
  • Increasing protection against redundancy for people wherever they work.
  • Giving statutory rights to equalities representatives.
  • Setting up a Royal Commission to bring health (including mental health) and safety legislation up to date.
  • Ensuring that public-facing workers are protected by toughening the law against abuse and violence.
    Banning unpaid internships.

Ok so where do we all stand on this who is opposed to the above ?

Cobryn: "It is sometimes claimed I am anti-business". Well no fucking shit, Sherlock.

Look at the shite above from an employers' perspective. Just look at it.

Where is there ANYTHING in there that is pro-business?
