I think they do it to divert attention from their own failings,it's like boris just keeps shouting get brexit done so we don't think about what 10yrs of austerity has done to us and to hide what they would do if they get in again,i'm worried that this is about brexit and not about installing a government for 5yrs,this is the wrong thing to do imo
You are right about it being at least partly a diversion from their owning weaknesses.

And you are spot on that this election is absolutely not about long-term stable government.

Yesterday the Conservative party shared, then deleted, an edited video of Jess Phillips that made it appear as if she said Labour couldn’t deliver the promises in its 2019 manifesto when she was talking about manifestos in general.
