That was strange....play to the whistle it seems

Lack of consistency, so many times when the liner flags the ref blows, this time he doesn’t, it’s so bad VAR, it’s alienating so many fans. I don’t think we’ve had one decision in our favour.

i said early on the VAR thread that offside needs to be taken out of the hands of match officials (how right am i now) being offside is a guess with the linesman

Nah, that got changed when they realised it was easier to screw us by flagging so the ref can blow his whistle.

Ref would have blown so the player couldn’t carry on.

Play to the whistle. The Blades defenders stopped when they saw the flag. Now, you can argue that the linesman shouldn't have raised his flag, let the move go and let VAR decide. But he did, and the ref didn't blow. Rightly, in this case.

There has to be consistency though, not one ref blowing and another letting it develop, it’s just open to abuse.

Why is the assistant flagging when it’s that close anyway? Just let the play continue and review it afterwards. Then only Shelvey plays to the whistle. This one is user error, plain and simple

Think that's just the CL, it should be the same in the PL.
