I know that place but not been for a long time. The locals used to take big catches of mackerel or even rabbits etc in. The owner used to smoke them for free and only give half back and sold the rest. Bartering at its best.Nice. It's a little expensive but the quality is absolutely amazing.

Farmed salmon is lice ridden, antibiotic stuffed, pellet fed, overcrowded, diseased, crap tasting shite that is harming wild salmon and is wank for the environment to boot.

I remember late 60s fish & chips 1/4p old money 10 old pence fish 6 pence chips.Todays money that would be about 7p for fish AND chips.

It is indeed mate but that 'lovely' looking fillet of fish Basa on the supermarket shelves is fish farmed in worse conditions in Thailand and Vietnam.Farmed salmon is lice ridden, antibiotic stuffed, pellet fed, overcrowded, diseased, crap tasting shite that is harming wild salmon and is wank for the environment to boot.
Quite a few unscrupulous UK chippy's have served up Basa as cod as the taste and texture are similar. But I can tell the difference as Basa is of a more snotty texture and tastes bland compared to cod.
Basa is a made up name, no such species. It is a catfish.

I always have cod rather than haddock at the chip shop. Ever since I heard about the perilous state of North Sea cod stocks I've eaten as many as possible in case they run out.

Or river cobbler or Panga ( Pangasiidae ) Really tasty for a farmed Catfish. Had something similar in the States years ago tasted like a cross between Cod and Salmon, again farmed Catfish. Interestingly they took a while to get it over here due to concerns about the farming methods and pollution of said farms.
