The Labour Party

Saddens me to say but the Labour party is broken. Never to resurface. They (corbyn and his militia have failed the working people of this country. They will all sit smugly after the election and congratulate themselves on "sticking to their principles". Meanwhile a failure to dislodge May and then Johnson is testament to their inneptness. Meanwhile the country heads towards 14 years of Tory miss-rule and the social divisions get worse. Well done JC and all who supported him. I spit on your legacy. #wedeservebetter
i think Lab would have romped home without Corbyn they should have got rid years ago, muppets the bloody lot of them and that includes the Cons,a bunch of thievs just looking after themselves, i didnt bother, fuck them all

(please keep reading) Voters with a mindset like yours are a major contributing factor to this (proposed) Conservative majority result.

That's not meant to sound nasty by the way, because it's not meant to be. Labour simply failed to attract your support, support they needed to beat the Tories, but they also act like you're not important to them. Your warnings, your concerns about Corbynism, all ignored and it's hurt them badly. Had they listened to voters like yourself, taken your critisism on board, thereby earning your vote, they could have beaten them them today.

Despite all the venom you hear from the far left & the far right (they do shout loudest), the majority in this country are firmly center ground in their political views. This is what the current Labour leadership seem to have not grasped.
A moderate nation wanted New Labour, and for a while it was turning for Cameron's small c Conservatives.

Momemtum wanted radical change by any means necessary, introducing toxic politics and the right-wing Tories countered. Hopefully this is the end of it, hopefully Labour realises who it needs to attract and the policies it needs to uphold in order to gain a majority. A society that cares using some socialist principles but a capitalist economy. It's who we are.

If the exit polls are true it’s devastating for labour.

What it shows is that working class people have completely abandoned labour. To ignor the huge leave vote in the north, wales and the midlands was stupid.

Labour became the Islington, middle class, far left machine

14 years? Looking more like 19 years or 24 years.
Would need a seismic shift in the order of Blair 97 to get close.

I hope Momentum are proud of themselves, probably arguing they weren't radically left enough.

The majority of their constituencies are leave areas though ...... you can’t just ignore entire areas and only focus on remain voters
That's the quandary they're in. They won areas where support for leave is high. If they go pro-leave then they increase support in those areas BUT lose too many constituencies that favour remain. Without Scotland they can NEVER win on their own so must think about either merging with the Lib Dems or just give up.

They have to in my opinion. If they lose their heartlands, which they’ve apparently done tonight they won’t ever win an election

The need to become a leave party. Without their heartlands they’ll never win an election
This is what’s wrong with this country at the moment. It’s Brexit obsessed. People think Brexit is something that’s going to “get done” when it’s going to take years, over a decade. In every day reality, Brexit really struggles to make the top dozen most important things to vote on in this general election for what will really affect everyone’s lives day to day. But that’s what the population has voted on.
