Arsenal (a) pre-match thread

The league is over so I'm just going to relax and enjoy the game. Yes we are way behind the dippers but so what, If we had signed VAR this summer instead of the dippers we would be right up there. We got nothing last year and had to put in a mamouth effort to win the league, that was some achievement. Lets not forget our players are on the end of shit decisions constantly, while they see Varpool get absolutely everything, that has to affect you, And it isnt just this season.

I just want Pep to try the 352 now, like he did when we signed Mendy. I think while we are struggling at the back it will make us stronger. Anyway hoping for a good performance and a win.

But has the 352 worked without Laporte? I feel that three in the back with Otamendi is like a mistake waiting to happen.

I just don't see why Pep doesn't go back to Fern as DM. He is still one of (if not the) best DMs, while he's not close to being one of the best central defenders.

I wouldnt know he hasn't tried it yet, which is my point. He could plum for concelo, and mendy as wingbacks. otter, fern, and walker as the back 3. fern moving into midfield if it isnt working. front 2 of Jesus and sterling. rodders, debruyne and bernie in the middle.

That team has plenty of cover and walkers pace when we lose the ball in transitions.

My guess is that Ljungberg will copy Ole. Their problem being that they don't have the same pace when they counter, nor do they have any reliable DMs.

I think that Arsenal will come out all fired up and filled with belief. But as soon as things calm down, City start playing the ball, Arsenal will slowly loose confidence. From the 20th minute they'll be hopelessly pinned back and completely clueless how to get out of it. I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up 5-0 to City.
Reverse psychology eh, nice one.

Also Im pretty sure we stuffed a team in red 5-0 when we used that formation ;)

Edit

last time we used it we had stones and otters, with no Laporte. And we did pretty well. Here the link to the formation https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1...e9H4#sie=m;/g/11ggb102f8;2;/m/02_tc;ln;fp;1;;

Not at all. I think Arsenal's defense, over all, is worse than most teams in the league. Could even argue they are the worst in the league at defending low. So playing against a team that will pin them down in a low block defence for most parts of the game, is the worst possible setup.

352 with 3 right footed centre halves would be bloody awful

Becoming increasingly difficult to make a prediction with us these days!

Hope to see Phil get some game time, I think now the focus is the top 4, which we should do comfortably, then some pressure is off and I think this is Phil's moment.

I'd also like to see Dinho back in his natural position with Otamendi and Garcia at centre back.

Nothing to lose from this point. I'm generally behind Pep is his management of the younger players but as we are out of the league I think now is the time.

Their deficit at the back originates from being open and attacking. They will sit deep against us and won’t have much trouble defensively.

i don't see it that way today ?? arsenal have to come out and show the home fans they are behind freddie ljungberg and want to show fight, so if they just sit behind the ball then the fans will be right on them and boo and moan ?? also they see city as being there for the taking and out of form and down in the dumps and fancy beating city

so they will play both strikers and 2 wide players, and if they have done there home work they will know if you beat the city players press then your in open space in midfield and right on the city back 4 or 2 center backs, chelsea did it and should have got something ?? united did it and won and should have scored 4 or 5, so arsenal will play the same setup being at home with nothing to lose really

but like i said about this city team, i feel a big performance is due and if it clicks we beat anybody home or away, its just getting the belief in what we are doing and the feel good factor and it will flow, also when you have KDB even at 50% he can come up with a bit of magic and that will also give the lift we badly need

I think it could follow the pattern against United. Arsenal have some speedy players. Will depend on the line up and taking our chances today.

Looking at it practically, and watching what Arsenal did on Monday Vs where we currently are, I expect we will be beaten.

They have good pace and will play exactly like utd did and at the moment we can't seem to cope with that.

I'm generally not such a soft twat but I have little faith in us at this moment.

Would like to see

Eddie
Walker
Garcia
Otamendi
Mendy
Foden
De Bruyne
Fernandinho
Rodri
Bernardo
Sterling

We still need to get top 4.

They will come with one game plan, long balls + pace.
They will get success in that. for us it remains to be seen how much we create for ourselves and finish chances. we need to create far more than what we did against Rags.

Don't see Foden starting, hope it's Bernardo Rodri Kevin

otta having to come out to a fullback spot on the left Is disaster waiting to happen and we don’t have a good left wing back. Mendy’s pace has gone so don’t see him being able to get up and down and bomb past fullbacks anymore.

Why is it Gundogan gets slated always and Rodri gets a free pass
Rodri doesn't give up and go missing, Gundogan occasionally does. Fans will accept a player in shit form or even just being shit but they won't accept a lack of commitment and effort.
