Port Vale (H) - FA Cup 3rd Round Post Match Thread

We were expected to win, which we did but again miss a host of chances as well, into the next round and now concentrate on Tuesday night where hopefully we put the rags to the sword, but with VAR in operation they will do everything to make sure the rags are well in the tie going into the second leg ..

On the VAR point mate, I thought it summed up how bent they are and how much they are desperate for the system to be deemed a failure on the Stones goal - soon as he freezes frame it’s blatantly obvious he’s onside yet chooses to spend 2 minutes drawing nonsense lines before declaring its a goal. Absolutely fucking pointless.

They are literally moving lines to try and rule goals out.

Within 5 seconds you can see he is onside yet they spend 3 minutes trying to con us.

Its desperate to watch it happen and they honestly think we are fucking stupid.

Whats more important though is the FA allowing the biggest cup comp in world football domestically be tainted by some games having VAR which will benefit/discriminate against certain sides whilst in other games, goals are given or not given because it isn't in use.

The sporting integrity goes out of the window.

Foden gets better with every game, harwood bellis I though was outstanding considering he’s only 17 and all in all that was a very professional performance.

“For me, this [Pope goal] is the goal of the game.” —David Phillips
Is that who it was ? C**t, made Hinchcliffe sound like a blue. We had 2 goals awarded by VAR, what the f**k ?

Well played boys, bit slow in the first half for me and too many passes that didn't mean anything, bit more direct second half and played some good stuff, it was only 15 minutes or so for Tommy Doyle, but he got really involved, all the young lads shone, but Phil Foden was really good, his movement was brilliant.

What's important - we can see the how pep is working on - to suit [Debruyne and Bernardo] in midfield...

Potentially he wants to play like this..

-----------------ederson--------------------------
-----ferna------stones-------laporte------------
-walker--debru-rodri-berna----------mendy-
-----------aguero-------silva/sterling----------

and during the attack:

-----------------ederson-------------------------
--------stones-------------laporte--------------
-----ferna--------------------------rodri---------
--------debru-bernardo-silva/sterling--------
walker---------aguero-----------------mendy

today it was something like this - but foden was playing on debruyne`s position and others accordingly..
But pattern can be seen and that's something - what can be the "KEY" to fight for the title next year..

With this tactic Pep solves number of problems:

1) Debruyne stays on the right wing and continues with his amazing crosses
2) Bernardo plays on the position where he is the BEST -> behind the Striker -> N10 position
3) After wide wings have been destroyed since sane is out and inside wings aren't as effective -> this tactic can be "GOAL MACHINE" as stopping debru-bernardo-sterling will be impossible
4) We can see why club is interested in Chilwell and Koulibaly.. Walker/Cancelo and Chilwell/Mendy will be vital - this tactic to become successful in the end
5) Sterling gets role in the middle as well and this can be helpful for his future career as well..

In overall - lots of positives can be taken from this game and we may be seeing "building" of the team and formation, that wins the title next year <3

First game I have watched since the Liverpool heist and Bernado being allowed to be branded a racist.

Foden starting and the fact it wasnt a premiership game persuaded me to give it a watch.

All the youngsters did well and as others have said Foden was exceptional, but it was against Port Vale but surely now time for Foden to be given an extended run in the side to show what he can do against the best opposition.

The finishing was again appalling and will continue to cost us particularly whilst the defence is so poor. Today the defence wasnt really tested but despite that still managed to look shaky at times.

The Vale goal I thought was just a good simple old fashioned goal. Pope actually showed that whilst obviously not him but a player like him ie old fashioned centre forward is perhaps what we are missing in our attacking options.

Finally VAR. What a fuck up it is, and as it is one of the two big reasons I fucked it off. From what I saw today I did not get much in the way of an urge to reconsider my decision not to bother watching anymore.

Stones is far too casual and not good enough imo. He nearly cost us a goal with a shit pass. After this season I can see Pep possibly trying to get rid.
I live in hope he is going to get his head sorted out and start to really play to his potential. There is a great footballer hiding in there somewhere.

So I am told.

Fairly sure one of (or several among) our staff or players shagged his missus based on his commentary.
