Real Madrid - CL R16 - 2nd Leg (at the Etihad) - Price details

The extra 1million quid (if that) the club will make by increasing ticket prices is nothing to the club and people wonder why the atmostphere is shocking. Will be full of tourists like you said
It's not nothing, which is one of the few things I'll say in their support over this. We lost £28m before transfer profits in 2019 and we're charged by ADUG to be self-financing.
But we'll make far more money by getting to the QF and beyond and there's no doubt (because Vinny said so in his MBA dissertation) that a full crowd who are really up for it will make a positive difference to our chances of doing that.

Not debating the increased prize money for reaching the latter rounds of the competition is important for the self sustainability of the club. However the part I've highlighted doesn't correspond with increase in ticket prices. If they want a full crowd who's up for it, keep the tickets affordable and appeal to the locals. You only have to look at the away support on Tuesday to see how much better the atmosphere can be when it's full of local blues.

Exactly.

Yeah I agree ticket prices are shocking but the club always does that when they know we're got a good chance of a sell out they put the prices higher piss take but it was always going to happen

You shouldn’t just accept it. That’s one of the main reasons that ticket prices keep going up and English fans keep getting rinsed.

When season ticket prices go up are you just going to accept it again ?

These prices are ridiculous and we are literally pricing out our core fan base from attending. It’s not right and we shouldn’t just accept it, doesn’t matter who we play.

In October 2012 group game Real Madrid at home my ticket was £40. For this game it is £35 same seat, same category and both cup scheme.

2012 under 16 was £15 - now under 18 is £10 for the same seat.

April 2016 for the Semi the adult price was £35 and 18-21 was £25 everything else being equal, now the 18-21 is £30.

The cheaper seats haven't gone up really, but I think the prices may have been more uniform in those days with less variance between stands.

I would like the prices to be cheaper, but the cheaper ones for adults have gone down 19.8% in real terms since the group game in 2012. Would be great if season tickets were the same.

I think that the pricing is about right for this game, the trouble is that it is on top of the fa cup game and carabao cup semi final. I looked into getting tickets for only fools and horses in London last night, and the cheapest seat was 85 quid.

Where the club miss out though is on fans like my sister as I mentioned earlier. £105 for all 3 games in group stage. £105 for one game now. It’s almost like the club saying thanks for coming to the games no one else wants to come to but now we have got through and are playing a big team, we don’t need you anymore. They could at least have some deals for families. 2 adults and a child for £60 or something like that. The individual prices are one thing but when you are going as a 3 or 4, paying £105 or £120 is a lot of dough.

Well if my life depended on it, I would find the £60 or whatever in March to go to this game.

Its 2 months until the home leg and blues are already moaning about money, if were being honest most blues can afford it.

Really? If you have a couple of kids your looking at around £100 that’s a third of my disposable income for one match, try selling that to your other half.

It's a special occasion - you don't get to see the great Real Madrid play very often. You can see two of the best teams in Europe in the 2nd leg of a knockout tie for £35 or £40 - that's a bargain. How can people moan about that ? It's 2020, a piss poor cup of coffee in a cardboard cup costs £3 ffs

We are in 93:20 and we have to move for every Chumps League game as our block is taken for “Friends of UEFA” … Funny how two seasons ago those so called Friends all seemed to be Dipper fans

True Wes. £62.50 to have a mystery seat is a bit expensive IMHO. Plus it used to be straightforward to move to a cheaper seat on the old ticket site but I don’t know how it works now lol.

The issue as I see it is the atmosphere just isn't the same at CL games. To get City fans to buy into this competition it needs most of the same fans as go to PL games and I think a different approach is needed.

My sc was £790 (I think) this season, which is £41.58 /game. If we get to the semi final and charge the same rate for the next 2 rounds as the R16 game, the average price of a seat has been £36.25 in the CL competition. If they offered me a 19-game PL + 6-game CL season ticket at £970 I'd probably snap their hands off and I bet you'd get more regulars going. Of course they would need to credit any knockout games we don't get through to back towards the following seasons costs.

Looking at the prices again, they're probably about right BUT it stings just after Christmas and when still in two other cups and a potential Wembley visit or three. If the cost is spread, it won't hurt as much.

Well there's still 2 months to go so it's a 1/6 of your disposable income from what you said if you get paid monthly.

We're all on tight budgets mate, I also have two kids grown up, so they pay there own way, all I'm saying is I will find the money somehow to get to the game, I'm as skint as the next man.

Sadly I am priced out of this game with 4 tickets to pay for it's a no, will stick to league cup and fa cup this year I think.

Why don't you both relocate to either the Family stand or South stand and you'd get them for £72.50? Save yourself £25.
I just added some info above. Will probably go and just hide the cost from the missus although the word 'sucker' tattoo'd on my forehead might be hard to miss.

Went to SS L3 for the Real semi final and I liked it, might do that. No way am I doing family stand again after Port Vale, I was ready to put those paper clackers where the sun doesn't shine.
