Madrid away

I'm just going on the assumption that over the past few seasons as far as I'm aware we've only sold out in two Champs League away fixtures and they were:

Schalke = Germany always a good trip
Spuds = New ground & not far to travel

I know a few that normally go to Euros are swerving it so just an opinion. Was the allocation 3k the last two occasions we've been there, I can't remember?

I think we got 4600 when we played them in the semi final in 2016. Not sure about 2012 as I didn't go but seem to remember it was more than 3000 on that occasion too

And this is the issue. Why have they only allocated us 3000 tickets when their capacity is 80k and how is this within UEFA rules? A friend of mine spoke to someone at the club yesterday and was told that they are actively trying to get a further allocation.

will those who are booked on official travel jump the queue with regard to loyalty points to ensure the plane is full.
Depends how full the plane is. In theory no, in reality maybe. Not sure whether the ridiculous agreement City Matters made with Thomas Cook has transferred over to the new company.

I still think this will go to general sale though, so I don't think it will matter in the end. Every block is still on sale on the planner, and the bulk of people that go everywhere will already have theirs at this point.

I understand its easy to say when I've got my ticket already, but just have a little patience.

not an issue for myself, but i have mates down the pecking order who have a good amount of points who have booked their own travel. Really was a ridiculous agreement made, totally agree, and totally contradicts the domestic game policy.

I'm not aware it's carried forward but when you talk about a "ridiculous agreement", the TC contract meant the club had to subsidise any empty seats on the plane. That cost them hundreds of thousands of pounds. So when season ticket prices go up and people complain that the increase will only bring in a few hundred thousand, think about that "ridiculous agreement".

I don't mind people having an opinion or offering constructive advice but when you have no idea whatsoever about the contracts or the extremely detailed discussions we had trying to find a acceptable solution then I suggest you STFU.

I’m thinking of Madrid for a non football break myself. Is it affordable? I’ll also need the name of an area to stay in which is near the nightlife. Cheers.

Are the planes generally nowhere near full?

Anyone any idea how tickets are selling? Still holding out hope on 1k that my cup scheme will get me through..

Madrid centrally can be as expensive as London. Went over half a dozen times last year as my daughter was studying in a city about 25 mins by car from the Bernabeu and central Madrid, and about 40 mins by bus. The place is called Alacala de Henares and has some brilliant bars and restaurants, and the accommodation is extremely reasonable. Have a look.

It depends on who we're playing. The less full the plane, the more it costs the club. We reckoned that it might involve giving 20-30 tickets on average, maybe 50 tops, to those who might not qualify on points. And most away games in the CL don't sell out anyway or go to low-ish points. To hear people talk though, you'd think we were giving thousands of tickets to people who wouldn't qualify. But we agreed that only people on the CL cup scheme would be eligible under this "ridiculous agreement".

So it's a case of one of the usual suspects talking the usual crap.

Thanks. I’ve had some initial searches and the main square is €€€. I might get an Airbnb place if I have little else to do in the room aside from sleeping and having a shower. I do like Malaga too.

Assume we only ever use one plane for these trips. I don’t see a huge deal with it to be honest.

Haha I’m going to begin to sound like Judith bleeding Chalmers, Malaga is lovely but Marbella is much better in my opinion. It’s quite a distance from Madrid to for travelling to the match if you fly to Malaga.

Should we beat the wankers from Stretford ?? The final will be a week after Madrid, this could have a massive bearing on who goes to Madrid. You would be looking at £500/£600 to do both so could possibly go to general sale match tickets as I think people would be taking their children etc to Wembley instead of a 2 legged afair against Madrid

Assuming all the tickets have been released on to the site I can't see it getting near to general sale - its only showing 507 left, 2500 gone and still at 18k and cup scheme.

Ah sh*t. Are you serious? Not joking but do we have 2500 fans on 18-24k points on the CL that are all going to Madrid...? Maybe :/
