I think a lot of people underestimate the role of injuries. After Kompany retired our first choice CBs were supposed to be Laporte and Stones. From 12 months between them they have missed 9, and that might be generous. Otamendi has seriously regressed and Dinho isn't a CB in the first place, apart from being 34 y.o. In addition to that Mendy has struggled again, Zinch was injured 2 months too, Angelino wasn't good. There have been also many small injuries, Raz had to play many games because Sane was out...

Thought Pep had to use more often 3 at the back and experiment with Kyle at CB. He has his reasons to prefer other options though. Shit seasons happen. We can still rescue this one and make it a big success story but are the energy and determination of the players there to do it?

It’s clearly known within the club what is going on but this isn’t the time to raise it.

The reality is we were indeed excellent, but missed countless chances and conceded whenever they decided to shoot.

Today was on us. Take the opportunities and we, deservedly, win that game at a canter.
He was asked a question and he felt it was part of the answer, tbf he can raise it whenever he wants,in a couple of months time it will be drowned out by all the dipper wanking

I call Sane a first team player , so if you do we have had out 4 first team players in every game this season, quite frankly i would have been overjoyed if we were only 6 point behind when Laporte came back, but we are not and i put that down to FA cheating, now win one trophy hopefully more and keep 2nd and i will be very happy

The league is long gone so why not start looking to next season now and building towards that. I mean is Dinho really our longterm CB. What is the harm in getting Garcia in there and potentially saving ourselves 80mil in the summer?

Foden too, is a midfield of Gundogan AND Rodri really going to take us to the next step/get us back to where we were... Maybe just maybe it's the most talented kid he's seen(Messi excluded as he's the best player in every position) that sits on the bench every week.

We are still in with a chance of winning three competitions, including the elusive Champions League

Something just isn’t quite clicking and those fine margins have been costly in games this season.

Pep needs to instil the winning mentality in his strongest team, and go balls out to win the silverware that is available. It would be foolish to do otherwise

We are preparing the team for the CL where youngsters are not likely to feature anyway.

One of Liverpool's key advantages is that they have an extremely settled team. They manage to get away with not rotating much due to exceptional fitness levels and lack of injuries to the most important players. Their medical and fitness department is better or they are just much luckier.

How are we preparing our best team for the Champions League?

That brain-dead wanker Otamendi is still playing and could take a shit in Pep's wife's mouth while she sleeps and Pep will still find a way to give him minutes.

On top of that, we're still persisting with a ridiculously slow midfield pairing who have started together in nearly every match we've lost this season.

Best team my arse.

that’s the problem; they’ll always be an excuse why we don’t give youth a chance. For this reason, we shouldn’t be surprised when they want to leave. I thought Foden should have played yesterday. And I just don’t get playing Otamendi when we have a brilliant talent as Garcia sat on the bench.

The players and the manager are concentrated on the CL, Garcia and Foden won't play against Real. We need a settled team and we are preparing the team for Real.

First Pep will need to curb the away leg experiments if we we're to stand a chance of winning the champions league.

You seem to be contradicting yourself.
I was replying to your quote where you were saying that Pep should experiment with youth for the rest of the season.

You then reply to my quote saying that Pep should curb his experimenting! Lol

yep and why have they hardly featured in the league thus far; because up until a few weeks ago we were concentrated on the league. As I said, they will always be an excuse and for that reason we should not be suprised if these youngsters star to press for moves away from City.

Well, I've answered your worry twice, won't make it thrice. How many youngsters start games for Liverpool despite them being 20 pts clrear? Will their youngsters leave?

They trusted their most talented teenager to be a first team regular and look at him now, he's the best right back in the league.

Maybe if we had the bollocks to trust our most talented academy product with regular minutes then he'd also make an impact.

It's not like we're asking Pep to start kids for the sake of it.

It's not time for experiments though. Everything now is about the CL, we won't win it with Garcia at CB, he migh be ripped apart at Bernabeu. How many starts did TAA have when he was 18 y.o? Garcia and Foden had several, including league starts, before they turned 19.

He's talking about playing youth in the league. Mou's developing Tanganga, Ole's working on Brandon Williams / Greenwood, Klopp did it with Arnold, Emery/Arteta are working on Saka / martinelli. Pep needs to trust the young ones, the league is already gone, now its time to decide who sticks and who goes in the summer and the integration of capable young players has to be part of that process .

The point I’m trying to make is if we start playing one team for the league and another team for the cups then there is even less chance of ironing out the problems. There is still loads to play for with 3 trophies and we haven’t guaranteed champions league qualification

This is the time to try to get some momentum and regain a winning mentality Barring injuries/suspensions this is achieved by fielding the strongest team available

I don't know and I can't be arsed to look it up but by Phil's age he'd figured in a similar amount of games with the main differences being that he was trusted to start league games, had played in a Champions League final and was well on his way to figuring in a second.

That's playing as a defender too which is a much, much bigger risk than someone in Phil's position. They trusted him because he showed the talent early on. Phil showed the talent and we just said "okay, cool, but there's an imaginary pecking order where you'll have to wait your turn regardless of whether or not the ones ahead of you stop performing".

Same goes for Garcia. Nobody can say with a completely straight face that Otamendi and Stones should be anywhere near the team on merit. They're total fuck ups and they have the knack for undoing everything the team has been holding onto by inexplicably fucking right up in moments where basic common sense should apply. Garcia came in, looked solid and composed and he just gets shunted to the back of the pack because he's younger than everyone else.

And that's not even to say he's been perfect because he did make a few mistakes but those were nothing more than wrinkles in need of ironing out. .

Now you're telling me that we don't have time to "experiment", by which you presumably mean to let both of them gain experience. Of course they don't! They've had months for that but the manager has denied then every reasonable opportunity to make the step up. It's entirely his fault that they aren't perceived to be ready for bigger games.

Actually playing the young ones now is exactly what the team needs, it gives Pep a fresh perspective, eases up the pressure on him and would increase his hunger for a new project which would be finding the perfect balance between the old guards and the new young legs, right now Pep might feel like we are still fighting for a chance at the league but the reality is the league is long gone, only way to get the players refreshed is to bring in the younger players as this could have the Kun- Jesus effect back when Pep preferred Jesus over Kun, we all saw how hungry Kun was when he came back into the team.

A lot of these starters are still important to the team, its just the lack of enthusiasm that's there, they feel regardless of their performance they would always be in the first team, the introduction of young players would pass a message that these positions are not guaranteed. The young players would be willing to run through a wall for pep as they are fucking hungry and the older players would step up their performance.

The enthusiasm of young players should not be underestimated, I remember a couple seasons ago when Flanagan lunged in to hurt Raz, the klanfield fans were ALL excited and Flanagan was pleased because that was the EXACT reaction he wanted. I see it with Foden also, when he scores a goal, he's celebration is so enthusiastic and he is never one to back down from a challenge or confrontation.

We and Liverpool are in totally different scenarios though. We've built a team that had huge success and wants the CL now. Liverpool, when they trusted TAA, were building a team and were winning fuck all when TAA was Garcia's age. Midfield is a zone where experience matters the most. When was the last time a teenager started a CL final in midfield?

We are not building for the future nowbut trying to squeeze as much from this team as possible. When Pep leaves, then we will have the freedom to experiment more. Even if Pep stays, Foden and Garcia are likely to play more next season if they show they deserve to play.
