Kicked in the nuts here aren't we??
Silva, Otamendi, Stones, Mendy, and Sane going would boost the coffers. Our aim should be to expedite Foden and Garcia so that in two seasons they are ready to win a title. Fuck the PL and CL for that period. Concentrate on restructure.
Beyond that? Aguero, Bernardo and Laporte I expect to be loyal. Jesus might get itchy feet and the big fear is Sterling and/or De Bruyne might have pressure due to status/skill/earnings to play CL. They genuinely are the two we need to keep. A suspended punishement is key in all of this so we can plan appropriately.
Pep should leave in the summer and I believe Rodgers or Pochettino could be ideal coaches to work with a weaker squad and bring through some youngsters.

This is the carrot Spurs United and Chelsea need to close the gap too. If we are banned, exepect them to sign a better player than us for 4 windows. After that it's going to be a different league outlook unfortunately.

Hello Sid.
My understanding from a podcast I've just listened to is as follows:
It seems that the ruling on the details of the judgement and our defence is down to the CAS, and CAS alone and there is no further appeal beyond CAS ( fits in with an earlier posting by @Tricky_Trev ).
However as I understood it if City are unhappy with result of the CAS appeal ruling they could ( under the 'public policy' grounds) appeal to the Swiss Federal Court that FFP is illegal in which case the UEFA ruling against City would become null and void.
This seems to fit in with City's pronouncements that we are going to fight this all way, because if the appeal process ended with CAS then City would not be able to pursue matters further.
One other thing - the lawyer on the podcast reckoned it could be about 15 months before the result of the CAS appeal was known.
As I say I'm not a lawyer, this is my understanding.
Hopefully all will become clear in the coming days.

Thank you so much for replying.

Im devastated at the news, although not shocked as clearly they have tried everything to kick us out.

What hurts more is the fact multiple times fans have been racist and all teams get is closed stadium, fines and no ban. Lets not forget the time our game was behind closed doors due to racism and then the game was reopened hours begore kickoff, Not allowing any of our own fans into the ground and the home side managed to get seats.

Its been clear from day 1 that they did not want us to be in the competition but to kick us out for 2 seasons when clubs have done far worse just shows the level fans, teams and officials hate us.

Im sure our owners have an Ace up their sleeves and honestly we need if, if we win this case then this could be a turnibg point for the CL. Lets hope our fans now show who we really are and make our ground a fortress it used to be at maine road, startibg with Real Madrid.

Messages were sent out - in some cases as soon as half an hour after the news - requesting players’ attend the meeting on Saturday lunchtime. Soriano wanted to brief them on the club’s plans following Uefa’s decision to ban the club from European competition. [
@TeleFootball

also being reported the deadline for the apeal is 10 days, seems very short to me

If it takes 15months for an answer what happens with our ban? Surely we cant be banned until its been approved or dismissed? If they ban us next seasin and then a year on we win the case what happens then, no doubt we would lose Pep, and a few players would leave... so do we remain in the competition until the hearing is finalised

I’m sure City have all their ducks in a row and ammunition at the ready.
I hope we make them feel very uncomfortable and it gets their dirty laundry aired.

Jesus does not want to leave. He wants to usurp Aguero.

IF it gets overturned.

For me, the likely scenario is a 1 year CL ban, and a reduced fine. If the ban was completely overturned, it'd be utterly embarrasing for UEFA and a catastrophic hit to its intitutional integrity.
dont think that would be acceptable for most fans and certainly the club,in that case it would be off to the swiss court

We won’t get suspended so need to worry that much.

Although a very good read, my problem with the bolt from the blue post (https://boltfromtheblue.live/2020/0...he-atomic-bomb/amp/?__twitter_impression=true) is that it only addresses the original problem we had with UEFA in how the sponsorship was related as either related party or not. It doesn't mention the main point of why this decision and punishment is so harsh. From the information they have UEFA believe we have lied to them about our funding and have tried to hide that Sheikh Mansour has ploughed in money via other sources than allowed. Hopefully the club do have the evidence to prove this is not the case.

The whole footballing world signed up to the transfer system and one Mr Bosman fundamentally changed the set of rules. We can do this.

I agree. Maybe by taking this beyond CAS to an international court City can get a ruling that FFP is not a level playing field but is in fact a restraint of trade. For a self sustaining debt free company to be punished whilst others are permitted to trade with enormous debts cannot be right. What other line of business tells an owner how much he can invest in his own company ? It's time City took them on and sorted it out once and for all.

The Sheikh should charter his private jet to the campus and hold a meeting with Khaldoon and all the management and players. Offer Pep a kings ransom £500 million to stay and sign a 5 year extension. Then get Kevin in, Bernardo, LaPorte, Sterling, Aguero, Jesus, Sane, etc and offer each of them a personal fortune to extend their contracts and commit to Manchester City. Then make a public announcement live on Sky TV. Could you imagine a panel sat there at the Etihad with the Sheikh, Khaldoon, Tixi, Pep and De-Bryne . Invite the worlds press and our own gutter media. With Khaldoon doing all of the talking "On behalf of Manchester City Football I would like to announce that Pep and all of the senior management and our most treasured players have ALL signed lengthy extensions to their contracts. From our owner Sheikh Mansour down to our loyal supporters we are all fully aware that since the takeover "OUR" club has not been made welcome at the top table. We are all aware that the established elite do not want Manchester City Football Club sat alongside the established cartel and we are all aware that FFP was introduced not to help the smaller clubs from financial ruin but to prevent clubs like Manchester City from evolving and challenging for major honours. Well we stand before you today to announce that Manchester City are going nowhere !! NOWHERE !! . We will take this as another pinch "and actually laugh" we will take whatever ban but when we come back we will be even stronger than ever before ! Thank you UEFA you have united our club and our fanbase like never before ! You can now go away and write your stories gentlemen. Pep then speaks "I would like to thank HRH Sheikh Mansour, he has treated me like a son and has made me the most amazing offer to stay at this wonderful football club. I may even stay for life, sorry guys we know this is not what you wanted to hear. Khaldoon then closes by saying "As a football club we have been the most courteous to all the worlds sporting media but from today we will be handing out life bans to any journalist who we find to have not respected Manchester City football club.

If we have the evidence, won't we have already presented it to UEFA? In which case they have either ignored it or don't believe it. Or has the punishment been handed down without us having the opportunity to present our defence?

Agreed, although as Martin Samuel argues the whole FFP edifice is a self serving farce which shouldn’t exist. All clubs who have a source of income should be able to use it. Everton owners have money so they? (according to the ‘football finance expert’ on bbc breakfast news this morning), in that case they should be allowed to spend it. The fella was trying to bring Bury into the conversation ffs.

Our offence appears to have been identified only because Der Spiegel made certain allegations based on emails hacked by Rui Pinto. Up to this point there had been no questioning of our accounts whatsoever, either by our accountants of UEFA's auditors. It seems very strange to me that a newspaper can have provoked such a dramatic reappraisal of work already done by such reputable specialists. And yet the reexamination seems to have gone hand in hand with a total failure to ask rather basic questions such as who is "HH" actually and who is Muhammed? Nor do the IC seem to have had any clear memory of who were related parties in 2014 and who were not. What appears to stand out is UEFA's ignorance of Abu Dhabi and their complete unawareness of it. I would appreciate enlightenment on these concerns if possible PB.

Further concern is that the FFP regulations seem deliberately opaque, so that what is accepted in one year can form the basis of draconian punishments for one of the "new" clubs if necessary later. I think therefore, that City have to challenge the lawfulness of FFP in the ECJ and get it ditched once and for all.
