I read there is a quick test you can do if you suspect you’ve got symptoms

Take a deep breath and count to 10. If you can do this easily without coughing or choking you’re ok. If you have the infection the fibrosis will be in your lungs and stop you doing this

Also another tip is to always have a bottle of water to hand and take a couple of sips every 15 minutes. If the germs are in your mouth this should wash them into your gut where the acid will kill them

Take out the middle man, drink a bottle of hydroflouric acid, hey presto no more coronavirus.

That’s weird, I was reading yesterday that it’s R0 was likely 4-6. Now they’re saying it’s less than flu (2.5)?

flu is 1.3 from the last time I looked.

this has floated around the 2.6 mark however a study from a prestigious group ( can’t recall the name, its on one of dr Campbell’s videos) did a retroactive study on the first few weeks of the outbreak when there were no quarantine measures in place and it was the 4-6 range and doubling every 2 days or so.

So the start of the out breaks in Italy / Korea and Iran ( not that we have real stats from there ) showed similar by the look of it.

if you check the global stats right now it’s doubling every 3 days outside of China.

The UAE government has just announced all schools in the country are to close for 4 weeks.

All major events have been cancelled, including Madness in Dubai this Thursday and Liam Gallagher & Kaiser Chiefs in Abu Dhabi next weekend.

This is becoming a proper pain in the arse now. They better leave the pubs open!

Does it work with beer? I might self isolate.

To be fair everyone's giving different numbers and it's early to be able to give a reliable one. Just to give an idea, the table in the wiki page for R0 gives covid's R0 a range from 1 to 6 lol. Funny fact: measles can have a R0 of 18 (12 if you're lucky).

Medical experts think most people went even know they've had it, it can be that mild. Can't believe the scaremongering going on over this, check out how many people died of flu in the US alone on 2018, didn't hear of any flights cancelled or food shortages. 13k died in the UK in 2008 and not a peep. The biggest threat with this are the idiots panicking over something that happens every winter.

That’s exactly why I try to say “estimate” before every metric and then quote ranges — they vary considerably between reputable sources, and that is not surprising, as contrary to how the media frame it, there is actually still very limited data available relative to the sort of universes and confidences data science usually requires to make meaningful inferences and/or conclusions.

https://www.wired.com/story/coronavirus-is-bad-comparing-it-to-the-flu-is-worse/

This is 20 to 40 fucking times more lethal than fucking flu.

I do wish people would stop making this idiotic comparison every twenty or so pages.

And experts are NOT saying most people won’t even notice it at all. They are however saying 1 in 5 will be hospitalised, 3 or 4 in 100 will likely die.

Wasn’t that H1N1? (swine Flu)

not sure off hand, just googling flu r0 at this point and looking for the more reputable sources.
Per this NIH study from 2009:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19545404
The R0 for novel influenza A [2009, Swine Flu] (H1N1) has recently been estimated to be between 1.4 and 1.6. This value is below values of R0 estimated for the 1918-1919 pandemic strain (mean R0 approximately 2: range 1.4 to 2.8) and is comparable to R0 values estimated for seasonal strains of influenza (mean R0 1.3: range 0.9 to 2.1).

As mentioned previously, I am surprised that the director is indicating it is less than seasonal flu, as that is in conflict with most other reputable guidance provided to date.

I was saying the same a week ago but I t’s the fact that it’s not caught on everywhere yet and the death rate is still estimated between 2-3.5%.

Let’s say 250 million people get this worldwide by the end of the year (I’m probably underestimating there n’all); 5-8.75 million people will die.

And it’s the fact that the WHO think we can still contain this unlike flu which is a worldwide virus everybody year that we can’t control even with a vaccine.

0.2% of people under 50 that have been confirmed to have it have died. If you take into about the thousands that have had it and not reported it, it's even less.

Don't believe the hype.

That last point is an especially important one.

A large part of the current response is geared toward stopping the virus from being endemic.

you cant disguise the flu figures and you are correct that many lives are lost, i caught the end of an interview today and some guy was saying when this is in peak there will be 3 deaths on the average sized street in the UK,now we dont know if thats bullshit or fact but lets sugest the homework has been done and it turns out correct, when was the last time you heard of anyone dying of flue in your street, certainly yes its being ramped up by the media but im not 100% sure Borris and Co are being completely honest, lol, maybe ive been part brainwashed by the media but i do think there is something a little more sinister with this and its not being released
