Karen’s diagnosed herself, on a serious note phoned gps today my daughters not well, not virus just unwell there not letting anyone in the surgery said phone 111 and they would send her to man doc phoned 111 service is manic in the end jut left it

I have spoken with the dr,this is more of a flu than a cold and i don't have a blocked/runny nose as in a cold,it's a temp,tight chest and raw throat and cough,he knows i don,t go out so he said to stay in and shout if i get breathless,his guess is it is the one we are talking about

The ironic (totally lost on him) but is that he really should be as worried as anyone about transmission of the virus. He’ll obviously get the best medical possible if does contract it, but that is still mostly limited to alleviation of suffering/symptoms at this point, and he is among the high-risk population. He should also have the best possible precautions against contracting it, except he is ignoring all advice and continues to have his rallies.

I don’t want this to turn to politics, as I have said previously, just pointing out that a few world leaders who should be personally invested, if not civilly invested, aren’t helping the effectiveness of the response.

But if this is more of a flu than a cold, why would he think it is this novel coronavirus. Or are you saying the severity is more like the flu?

And if he has said it may be COVID-19, has he suggested home testing?

The severity is more like flu,i have only had flu once and it is more like that than a cold,everyone will feel it differently depending on what your baseline health is like,he has suggested nothing but stay in and treat the symptoms,i am on a priority list if i need call back

Well, I obviously hope it is not COVID-19 and that you recover quickly.
 
Thirty new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the UK, bringing the total to 115.

The number had stood at 85 following the Department of Health update on Wednesday afternoon.


Three new cases had already been confirmed in Scotland today

Whatever it is follow the instructions plenty of fluids rest etc, you'll know you're getting better when the chocolate looks appetising again.
 
If anyone knows what this means can they explain it? How do they "Push it away"?

Prof Whitty said benefits of the delay phase included:

  • Pushing the peak of cases "further away from the winter pressures on the NHS" so that there was "more capacity to respond"

They've just been through this on Radio Five ..... restriction of movement. containment of people closure of public events (note how the new James Bond movie isn't being released).so that infections are minimised until the NHS is out of its current winter crisis and they move it into a summer one. Cancellation of non urgent operations and the setting up of 5000 (we have less than 4000 throughout the uk at the moment) intensive care beds with ventilation units. These may well be in operating theatres to enable space and isolation. NHS pushback was that they don't have enough trained nurses to manage high dependancy units.

Depends on the differences between the L and S type and on how the vaccine is made, e.g. if they use parts that are different in the two types or they use a structure that the two have in common - if that's possible.
HAV and HBV are virus that belong to different families, these two types (L and S) belong to the same family, genus, species and strain, according to the current classification. Of course there's the risk that they mutate further before a vaccine is made, and RNA viruses as this one mutate faster than DNA ones.
