I dont really understand what fake means in the context of social media but something smells off with it to me.
Glad to be able to put your doubts to rest then.
• This is his original Facebook post
• This is his personal profile on the site of the private hospital he works for https://www.gavazzeni.it/medici/daniele-macchini/
• This is his CV https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...FjAUegQIBhAB&usg=AOvVaw3EX-eQ_nP4OgFq1b8GNrMw

I'd say you can be pretty certain he's who he says he is and he's actually working there. He described the situation how he's seeing it right now, which must be a pretty grim perspective what with having to work non-stop and seeing all this new cases and ICU patients and deaths. He doesn't say we have to panic or that the situation is going to be that bad for everyone, just to please be responsible so that their job can be less difficult and they can save more people. And to be fair he was appealing to us Italians, not other countries.

All seems genuine. Thanks

Each of us needs to do everything we can within reason to avoid contracting any pathogen, avoid transmission if we do contract a cold, flu, or the novel coronavirus, and reduce strain on the healthcare system if at all possible (i.e. if you have mild symptoms), which includes self-quarantine and care.
Whilst I agree, you should get tested to see if it is this, don't just think its a cold or flu.

As you have sadly proved, even a week ago it was dodgy going to such a large event.

Today there were crowds of 70 plus and 50 plus thousand crowds in the North west of England. The fact that that was allowed is in my opinion sheer bloody criminal stupidity. As you say greed is a big player in this as well.
i can only see a couple of reasons for letting these events continue, one is they may be completely stupid but thats off the mark the other is they want to push the spread percentage rate forward (increase infection) 'its going to happen anyway' by doing this they could hit the summer target for the peak, they dont want this peak in November, but its something they dare not come clean about with the public

British people are masters of ignoring advice though. Stiff upper lip and we Brits don’t bow down to a bit of a cold attitude.

Curious to know what it is that we’re doing differently then. All screams a bit “Dom is at the wheel”-esque.

Not to flame or anything, but at the moment you seem to be doing even less than we did at the start. Unless I missed something, which is very likely since I don't follow UK news closely.
We're obviously not the model to follow given our case and death numbers, but we had the role of guinea pigs in Europe. It's obvious some things should have been done better and especially in a more organized way, but it's always easier for those who speak in hindsight.

Firstly i hope you and your family are ok. Secondly can i ask if what i heard is true...

My Italian mate said as soon as quarantine was brought up in the northern parts of Italy a shed load of them decided in their infinite wisdom to go back to their homes in southern Italy? I can't currently get hold of him to confirm that so was wondering if you had more info on it. My pal was extremely angry at the selfish stupidity of his own countrymen noting some flaunting the movement restrictions just to go skiing. Is that right or is he missinformed? In fact he was absolutely livid about it calling those who ignored stern warnings every name under the sun.

Once again, i hope you stay safe mate, i wish you all the best in this terrible situation engulfing your country.

Edit: He reckons they are fleeing not out of genuine panic but because it inconveniences them, hence his genuine anger.

This is tracker really useful. Didn’t realise France & Germany have approx same number of cases, just over 1K, but Germany has had zero deaths whereas France has nearly 20.
Whatever the Germans are doing maybe it’s a better way to go than the French...

Yes, I saw the stats of Germany and how there are no fatalities and very few in a serious condition. I assume that our government advisors are finding out what the Germans are doing right and taking advice from them. Unless it’s a slightly different less lethal strain that’s taken hold in Germany.

I’d certainly hope they are doing that!

A lady just phoned in to 5 live Stephen Nolan show she’s been skiing in northern Italy just landed from Milan to Edinburgh she passed through a part of what’s called category 2 Lombardy onto Milan flight home no checks she said none whatsoever , as she checked with NHS Scotland website which goes totally against the NHS England’s web site which states if you pass through category 2 You must self isolate ... here is the problem.

I suppose it's a bit of a gamble. do we carry on basically as normal with the risk that the country shuts down in afew weeks, or shut it down now to try and dodge the worst effects? The harsh reality is possibly that if loads of folk are going to be sick and the economy tank as things grind to a halt either way, the govt may as well kick the can down the road as far as possible and squeeze another couple of weeks of relative normality out of UK plc.

Of course, but that should be done via calling 111 and allowing them to coordinate procedure for testing whilst you self-isolate, as per general guidance. That procedure may change as things progress and self-isolation may become more important/required.

Sadly i think @Millwallawayveteran1988 has it spot on. The stiff upper lip crap will see many ignore advice.

Haha thanks, I'm alright and so is my family thankfully.

As for the latest decree, it's true there's been people fleeing the region right after it was published to avoid being quarantined inside it. I agree with your mate that it's an egoistic and idiotic thing, and on the other hand I can understand why some of them might be doing it for things that seem important to them (i.e. not being able to check upon old relatives and stuff like that). I'm not excusing them eh, they're all egoistic cunts anyway, especially those that leave the region now for futile reasons. There are probably more police/army blocks around now though, it won't be that easy.

Silly cow on he papers review tonight on Sky

"Some people do recover from Covid-19, yes some of them do"

Gut next to her says " currently 97% of people worldwide recover"

Thank you mate for getting some fucking perspective

I suspect that is exactly what's happening. It looks like this thing is going to get worse before it gets better and the cynic in me suspects that the government is trying to keep the wheels of commerce spinning in the knowledge that once we have to take preventive measures there isn't a set timescale on when things will return to normal.
