The Labour Party

He was last year when he blasted the party and certain individuals over Antisemitism which this punishment is very much about.

I first met Philips in the 70s when he was NUS President, he was a freeloader then, like his mate David Aaronovitch, also NUS President, both of them have freeloaded for years.

Philips moved from one sinecure to the next, making contacts, bending with the political wind to seek advantage, he has achieved nothing, he stand for nothing, except, of course, himself.

Of course this is true. The man who lobbied Blair to bring in laws to protect Muslims is all in it for himself and it’s not Formby’s fault.

They’re getting rid of Trevor Phillips for daring to suggest concern over grooming gangs and integration of Pakistani and Bangladeshi people.

For those who don’t know he’s the former head of The Equalities Watchdog and incredibly well respected on all sides of the political divide.

Two interesting bits are-

‘Khalid Mahmood, England’s first Muslim MP and a Labour backbencher, said “the charges were so outlandish as to bring disrepute on all involved in making them”’

And the fact that he was strong on condemning Labour antisemitism.

So he's getting fired off because he told the truth.

He has highlighted problems within the Labour Party and made the public aware of them.

He must be punished...

I personally think the bloke is a bit of a gobshite, but its staggering the Labour Party didn't foresee it being portrayed this way.

Pretty much.

It’s payback for him being critical about the antisemitism.

Let’s not forget these comments are several years old and they’ve known about them since he made them.

It’s punishment.

Why do you think this?

He’s the former Chairman of the EHRC.

It’s literally his career to talk about discrimination.

Yep bingo-

Phillips is Deputy chairman of the board of the National Equality Standard, and other business appointments include chairman of Green Park Diversity Analytics, director of WebberPhillips, a data analytics provider; and director of Pepper Productions, an independent television production company. He is a member of the board of the Barbican Arts Centre and the Council of Aldeburgh Music; and a trustee of the Social Mobility Foundation, among other charities.

Phillips is a former chairman of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and a former television presenter and executive.

Phillips became head of the Commission for Racial Equality in 2003, and on its abolition in 2006 was appointed full-time chairman of its successor, the EHRC (initially called the Commission for Equality and Human Rights), which had a broader remit of combating discrimination and promoting equality across other grounds (age, disability, gender, race, religion and belief, sexual orientation and gender reassignment).[2] The EHRC also had the role of promoting and defending human rights, and secured recognition as the national human rights institution for England and Wales (alongside separate commissions in Northern Ireland and Scotland). Phillips' tenure as EHRC chairman (which at his request became a part-time position in 2009) has at times been controversial.
