We’ve just been on an exercise with 3 pumps, one of the guys thought he had it because he had everything on the checklist, his wife travels round UK airports so thinks maybe he got it off her. Phoned 111 they asked him if he’d been to China or Italy answered no they said well you haven’t got it!! So if he has that’s at least 20 people in the brigade who have it plus 3 stations would have to be shut for deep clean, that’s how quick it could spiral.

Yeah was speaking to someone at work and they were saying their wifes work is only following official dep of heath guidelines of affected countries so anyone in work sick (a cold or such) who haven't had visit said places are being allowed to come in if they are not self certing.

Understandadly businesses won't want to lose work forces and work loads, but the sketchy government guidelines are probably allowing possible cases to flourish.

It's more if liability is pinned on me. Like why did you come in to work if you felt even slightly ill? Working on a contract for them within a hospital at the moment, which isn't ideal in the current climate.

I think they feel as if they've not done enough either protect their staff, but the experience I've had from 111 and the vague statements from the Government, I feel the whole country is unprepared.

Fair points. I think some of it is expectations, and how they match the system in place. And then how to manage expectations without creating more panic.

The last 7 words - absolutely. Hopelessly unprepared, and struggling to hear the reality from the noise.

Had my GP appointment, I walked into the room cautiously and asked if he was aware of my symptoms and if I was allowed in the room. I explained and he allowed me in.

He said he has to follow the same public health England protocol as 111, and can only swab if I have been in direct contact with a confirmed case or have travelled to a high risk area. Didn't seem too happy to be following that protocol, but checked all my vitals and they came back fine. He said it's likely a viral infection or flu causing my sore chest and ribs and that my breathing was fine.

Hoping the protocol changes cos as it stands, a lot of cases are gonna slip through the net.

We just live in a government manipulation now. Artificially keeping cases down, burn the secret victims and quote lower figures at the end, followed by the enquiry in 20 years time if we still have a society left.

I was looking at the Italy stats earlier, waiting for the latest figures from their 5pm press conference today (still waiting). I was struck by the dramatic increases in the number of deaths and just how smooth the graph looked and how predictable it seemed. So in an idle moment, I decided to graph it, and here it is. You can see exactly why the Italian government went into panic mode! It shows that since Feb 25, the number of dead has increased by a factor of 10, roughly every 7 or 8 days. I am sure the graph will flatten off - I do not expect to see 100,000 dead before the end of the month, but when it will start to flatten off, who knows.

In the meantime, we just need to wash our hands a bit more often.
