Cites the national health institute.

Although it's Chinese data, this chart seems to match (from a first glance).

so what you are suggesting I do, the people of the uk do and indeed the government

is not take the advice of the chief medical officer or the chief scientific officer in the uk on how to deal with the crisis.

NO . We should all be taking our advice from a financial advisor based in Dubai who posts on bluemoon.
I'd listen to the advice of the chief medical officer and follow the advice. Looking at whats happening in other countries, I think it is reasonable to expect things will get worse, and the advice will change.

I wouldn't however, go on to forums and proclaim it'll be fine when it gets warmer, because there is no evidence to suggest that. I wouldn't make up temperatures in the locations in an attempt to prove that point, when they can be proven wrong so easily.

Its hypocrisy to ridicule others for their opinion (which is seems to be based on reputable sources), when yours opinion holds the same weight.

Chief medical officer just been on breakfast news saying it’s safe to be in large gatherings ie Cheltenham whereas Italy, China etc is in lock down what the fuck!! mixed messages or what

Your risk of infection currently is if you put 70 million people in a room, what are you chances of bumping into 300 of those infected people?

The answer is 0.00042%.

It is almost guaranteed that not a single person who attends Cheltenham will have Coronavirus and even then that single person would have to sneeze on you.

Do you have any links for that one please? not seen any data on ages in Italy.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-51805727

"The health system is under immense strain in Lombardy, a northern region of 10 million people where Milan is the main city. Regional hospitals are running short of beds and treating patients in corridors.

The health ministry says the average age of deaths from the coronavirus is 81.4 years."

Mid way down the page.

We obviously have a completely different perspective. In my view it is meaningless to compare the number of deaths from COVID-19 to those who would die from cancer or other causes. I can confidently predict that in 120 years all 66 million people in the UK will be dead anyway. What we are talking about with COVID-19 is additional deaths - people who were it not for this new virus would not have died.

I'll throw you a bone and say let's suppose only an additional 55,000 people in the UK die from this, compared to normal flu. That is like dropping a bomb on the Etihad stadium and killing everyone in it and yet for some reason you seem to want to downplay this. To put this into perspective this is is circa 20 times more people than were killed in 911 and that's just in the UK. 200 times more then we killed at Lockerbie.

If this is not a terrifying prospect I do not know what is.

@Churchlawtonblue - do not take the bone.

Well somebody had it at Wembley and allegedly somebody had it at Hillsbrough.

No you should probably listen to the CDC and WHO who don’t have a political dog in the fight.

Even then the U.K. governments own figure suggest millions could be infected.

Are there any figures that I’ve posted that you dispute? And I’m not in Dubai any more than you’re in Brussels.

Halifax office in Belfast now closed immediately because 1 dick came back from Italy with CV and went to work. No one had time to react regarding working from home. 1100 affected.

he should of been responsible- almost nearly criminal his actions

Our public health doctors don't have a 'dog in the fight' either. What no one is discussing is when you stop quarantine, once you have started? This virus could go on for months, it could be seasonal and be back in November/December, or it could disappear in the spring. As with the question I posed about Italy, assume we lock down the UK for 3 weeks, what next? Stop any travel in or out? Assuming not, what happens when someone travels in from a place that then declares it has virus a week later? Shutdown for 3 weeks again? If we don't time this right, we could be doing it in perpetuity.
