That is not how most of it is spread, touching surfaces on public transport to get there and back, anywhere you touch then touch your face touching anything can give you it,i have picked it up from the wembley trip

As for me i have gone backwards a bit today, nature of the beast i guess

Saw today they are expecting thousands more to get it but they won't bite the bullet and cancel sport

I was thinking about when my age group where kids and we had chicken pox parties, one kid would it or measles etc so we were all sent to their house, get infected and go home and cuddle up on the settee with your siblings and get over it,wonder if that is what boris has in mind

Worked out well for Shingles later in life :/

What will they do if people don't obey these decrees? Shoot them? Put them in prison (presumably in solitary)?
Prison, huge fines, bans from being a shareholder or company director etc etc. All are possible. However, debt moratoriums are a standard response to a crisis and no financial institution is ever stupid enough to violate them, especially as they've no legal ability to foreclose or repossess.

From a Chinese report.

-1 person was infected by a fellow bus passenger at a distance of 4.5m
-Virus can linger in the air for 30+ minutes.
-Can last on surfaces for days at 37'c, 2-3 days on glass, fabric, metal, plastic or paper
-survive more than 5 days in bodily fluids and poop.

Still watching... more updates will be added as I watch.

They're probably going to write that in the decree, too.
E.g. for shop owners that didn't obey the client distancing and low rate of clients required by the past decree, they made them pay a heavy fine.

Country after country taking action, banning large events....Poland Austria Czechia but no not here. Carry on hand washing singing happy birthday and hope for the best.

I fear the worst I really do.
Banning large events is really a pin-prick,window dressing at best - how many attend such events, maybe 1.5m per week at most? Meanwhile there are in excess of 25m people commuting to and from work in the UK each day, that's over 250m commuting journeys per week. You either go for complete lockdown - which can only be temporary - or don't bother with major restrictions at all.

Halifax office in Belfast now closed immediately because 1 dick came back from Italy with CV and went to work. No one had time to react regarding working from home. 1100 affected.

he should of been responsible- almost nearly criminal his actions
That’s because people ignore the advice, which was to self quarantine, and that’s because you have the sheep telling them “its just a bit of flu, grow a pair”

Maybe you are right, in which case surely we should be following Italy in the hope of avoiding what is happening there....In other words why wait until its at the point Italy is. It makes no sense to me.

I am sorry to say I think he has, and he is putting £££ before peoples lives.

His chief medical and scientific honchos are probably exactly that due to being happy to tell the government what they want to hear as far as possible.

Actually that appears to not be the case according to a doctor on 5 live this morning. The medical and scientific staff that are advising the government are becoming increasingly uncomfortable with the way it is being handled.

They were very much surprised at the latest softly softly approach and if this continues into next week some will be breaking ranks. Economics were the reason the govt told them to delay more drastic action.

I am curious to know if me getting up at 7:00am, climbing into my car and going to play 18 holes of golf on my own and then returning straight home constitutes self isolation?

Just trying to get my days planed out if i get any health issues next week.

I can see loads of people trying to take advantage of the situation over the next 2 or 3 weeks.

that’s what I’ll be doing if it ever stops blooding raining down south. Course has been closed for 3 weeks. Get out in the fresh air and countryside.

If there was a complete lock down for 14 days .
Would it completely get rid of it ?

Not likely, it would slow it down and make it more managable, and hopefully prevent the medical systems getting overloaded.

the WHO still think this is containable but needs a global effort to contain it long enough to eradicate it like China are doing. so we'd be looking at months probably.

so what would you do with UK citizens scheduled to return from Italy?
They could have stopped them going there in the first place.
On Sunday night i was sent an alert for a really cheap deal. Six nights in Venice including flights and 4* hotel, £179, what a bargain!!!! It was BA

Today BA have announced they are cancelling flights to Northern Italy.

We had an interesting debate at work this morning regarding the possible instruction to self isolate in the coming weeks if you have the slightest sign of a cold or flu.

Many people who are financially in a position to take a week of work may well use this as an excuse to have a week off.

But more concerning.

What about the people who are living week to week, in debt with very little disposable income, if they are genuinely unwell but can not afford to have time off work what happens if they persist in coming into work?

Define "complete lock down".
Anyway even with the most drastic measures (China-like) there's always a bit of spreading in hospitals, for basic necessities etc. What a lock down hopefully does is slowing down the infection rate more and more (China-like) until it can be managed and contained more easily while trying to end it completely with drugs and then hopefully a vaccine.
