Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

I think liverpool have won a couple too ;-)
Not domestically they haven’t and anyhow pretend invitation only trophies don’t count. If this pans out as expected and the rest of the season is cancelled we gain total immortality as the only team to win every trophy contested in England for two consecutive seasons

You can bet they’ll wait till the dippers have wrapped up the league before cancelled any games.,
It's the non league clubs who will not be able to pay players or other bills with no income

They may means they may not, so will be correct either way.

The EFL teams getting 1,500 will be a massive risk, absolute bollocks, more likely to shut motorway service stations than stop Macclesfield v Cheltenham.

Wow - would be a huge move if true.

I work in a schools and there are no talks of what would happen if there was an outbreak but schools are in touch with the health boards/advice.

More chance of city winning the PL this season than that happening.

To be honest I think that's why they'll try and finish the season one way or another because if they don't relegate teams then a legal shit storm from teams that want promotion.

Surely they will just void the leagues, give the scousers the trophy (lets be honest they should have it - no one is catching them) and then just NOT relegate anyone (Hard on the teams int he promotion spots in the lower leagues but not much else that could be done that wouldnt mean adjusting the size/numbers in the leagues - which aint going to happen.

You can’t just give them the trophy. Either the league season is completed or it’s not. If it isn’t and issues are not decided with mathematical certainty then nobody gets the trophy.

There'd be legal action all over then though, you can't declare someone champions and then ignore everyone else, the only way is to cancel all leagues and start again in August (whenever it's safe too, which might not be August).

There would be uproar but the government calling a state of emergency or similar would scupper all claims, like in the war.

Just cancel the Euro's, suspend football until May/June then if the situation is under control resume it. None of this behind closes doors shit, anyway if a few players catch it what happens then?

If they void the season can you imagine the reaction of Leeds and WBA who are clear in the Championship. Then there are the European places for next season etc. It is a huge mess and it will get much worse before it gets better. But one thing is sure, the greedy, corrupt chancers running football will put revenue before public health all day long.

so they basically waited for dippers to beat atletico in front of their fans (that aged well) and will announce it just before they are away at dippers derby. Sounds fair.
