Uefa to hold meeting on 17 March

Uefa statement on coronavirus: "In the light of the ongoing developments in the spread of COVID-19 across Europe and the changing analysis of the World Health Organisation, UEFA has today invited representatives of its 55 member associations, together with the boards of the European Club Association and the European Leagues and a representative of FIFPro, to attend meetings by videoconference on Tuesday 17 March to discuss European football’s response to the outbreak.

"Discussions will include all domestic and European competitions, including UEFA EURO 2020.

"Further communication will be made following those meetings."

17th of March?!! Why not tonight or tomorrow?! Seems they want assurances from the money men! UEFA run like a fucking chippy.

They're in a serious dilemma. The dippers are so close to clinching the title. They''ll probably force teams to play behind closed doors until this happens and then decide to postpone the PL. You just know it's going to happen. It'll still be tainted though. Leeds fans must be nervous. They may have to go all over again in August.

He was totally correct. 3,000 Madrid fans drinking and socialising in Liverpool, as he said some would be infected.

They should ban all travel between countries in and out until it is on top of, but again cash is king.
Plus another 25,000 Liverpool fans from overseas. John Ashton is one of the most respected people in Europe in the public health field. The Government will have blood on their hands if they ignore his advice. Can you imagine the legal repurcussions if just one person dies and the infection is traced back to that game last night. How stupid can any government be?

The FA and the Premier League aren't covering themselves in any glory here, at a time when other leagues in Europe are acting decisively.

Unfortunately money is king and its blinding those in authority from doing the right thing. The dithering and inactivity in the UK both from Government and other authorities will be judged very harshly if this virus spreads rapidly and we are judged to have been complicit and not acted quickly enough.

Surely football now has to be cancelled, all competitions. How can you have teams, who havent had a game in say 2 weeks as some have been postponed, competing against other teams that played full fixtures. It'll become a mess.

And no, it's not an 'anything to stop liverpool winning it' stance, we imho have much more to play for, being still in the latter stages of 2 competitions, i honestly would rather see them lift the PL trophy with all the bells, for a chance at CL and FA, than have the whole lot cancelled.

But the logic is now becoming almost unquestionable, and anything otherwise is a risk of being a farce.
2019/20 football season will end in anti-climax for Liverpool FC. Out of the League Cup, FA Cup, Champions League, and with their unbeaten record broken.

The ideal finish will be City taking the Champions League over the Bosphorus. It might be May, it might be later but we should do everything we can to make this happen.

from BBC, response from UEFA, meeting next Tuesday.......question why not today

Calling our game off with a few hours notice?

Health authorities would be completely overrun if it isn't delayed. Huge numbers of people would unnecessarily die. They are trying to rush to develop and test a vaccine but that takes time, (12 months+). It will likely spread to most of the population but they are trying to slow it down.
Accept that, but how many people have died in this country or others from 'standard flu' so far this winter? And we have done nothing about that apart from issue free flu vaccines. Why isn't that being reported? Every year 70k-100k die from flu and we do bugger all in comparison . I accept my view is over simplistic but I refuse to be scared or panicked by most of the shit that's being peddled

15 day quarantine
It just makes a complete mockery of UEFA, planning on holding talks in 5 days time when teams across Europe are being affected NOW!! Decisions need to be made asap, but as we all know, its all about the money side of the game now. Fuck the fans, and now it's fuck all the players, coaching staff etc... despicable!!
