Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

I decided yesterday that I would stay away from this Burnley fixture due to my age,69,irrespective of having no underlying medical conditions relating to respiratory problems.

It's sensible mate. This virus is a new phenomenon and although a bit younger than you I'm in a higher risk bracket. I was decimated with an horrendous bout of flu in January and still have the cough now and don't feel 100%. I took a chance on Wembley but I'm not tempting fate anymore until this dies down. I will go out to buy food and that's it.

Newsnight just announced an emergency meeting of the premier league management about the cancellation of the league. Lineker says cancel it, not postpone.
I think I’ve died and gone to heaven!
Was he part of that really good Everton side that might have done well in Europe if the murderer's hadn't got everyone banned? - if so I bet he's pissing himself at the prospect of this season being binned

Official: The Premier League match between Arsenal and Brighton has been postponed following news that Mikel Arteta had tested positive for the coronavirus.

I’m impressed you got to 69 with no underlying medical conditions - kudos fella

It isn’t’t important enough to continue.

another thought.
Had Arsenal arrived in Manchester on Wednesday?
If so who was in contact with Arteta?

tomorrow’s emergency meeting will see the season ended/suspended.

Fat chance of a lot of idiots doing the right thing and complying. You only have to look at the selfish bastards clearing all the shelves in supermarkets " June quick grab that other pack of toilet rolls before that old dear gets it before you, hurry up!" Only today in Wythenshawe hospital some scumbag was running into wards and stealing the hand sanitiser.
I know what you mean. Shelves cleared here too. That’s where the social disapproval comes in.
They’re being called out on social
media and the news and every second program I’ve watched tonight.

So how do they know this?

Probably a multitude of reasons:
- Number of people with the symptoms untested (ringing 111)
- People going to the doctors and being told to self isolate but didn't get tested
- People with only a mild version of it going about their daily lives infecting more people
- Comparisons with other countries at the same stage

It's obviously much much higher than the 500 cases.
