If you have it then self isolate if you think that is the right thing to do.

I can guarantee that millions upon millions will not do that because they don’t fall into the category of people which it could kill or effect them personally.

Industries and lock downs will make that decision for them if those sectors and our government grow some bollocks and make the right choices.

It’s mass homicide. We will never fully control such an outbreak and people are going to die, but to sit back and not even attempt to minimise such damage is way beyond my comprehension.

I know you were mate.

That said we really don't need a government making bad decision just now, and the opinion of other nations and health experts are worrying me greatly.

Sadly there is still an undercurrent here where we still believe we are the greatest nation on earth and naturally and certainly superior and therefore know better than anyone else.

I am not confident that when this blows over we will be left with the whole world beyond the shores of Great Britain saying "if only we had listened to Boris and his advisors".

I get that part but don't understand how this will not create an early spike which would overwhelm your health services rather than the slower growth over longer term that they are predicting as the benefit.

Any idea what Germany/Holland etc are doing? I know they haven't closed schools either and in Germany at least football is going ahead (not sure if behind closed doors though). Other than that, I'm not really sure what measures they are taking.

Thats probably the real underlying reason. Save on pension payments, the healthcare burden that the elderly pose etc. All well and good until it's your mother or father or other relatives taken before they should be.
The 4.2 mil figure was derived from 7% of 60 mil which was quoted as the figure for herd immunity. They have reduced it to 40 mil now, so thats still 2.8mil fatalities.

Yeah, agreed. It’s used as a justification for doing nothing, and conveniently the “delay” phase involves less testing.

If we are to assume the real number is already in the tens of thousands, we will be into the millions in around 2-3 weeks.

Because our government want people to get it.

That's not some wild conspiracy theory. They want some people to get it and build up immunity now so that they will be able to help others when the peak comes.

It's inevitable there are going to be deaths, and it appears they'd rather deal with some of them now, than all at once.

They're no longer concentrating on stopping the spread, they're just managing the capacity of our health and social service.

Anyone who is not self isolating already is a guinea pig for the government's plan.
 
Even Trump is reacting now.

Given we are now in their pockets, it’s just a matter of time before we follow suit.
