It's a different conversation entirely, and not necessarily covid-based, but if you simply cannot be off work to look after your kids, don't have them. If you have to beg, borrow and steal childcare - don't have kids.

Again, I have not been disputing that *some* testing and tracing is being done, but this does not mean we have been testing, tracing, and tracking at the same scale (relative to our actual cases and/or population) to China, which was your original assertion. Or that we have been doing it at a sufficient scale for effective containment and delay of transmission from health response perspective.

I am not trying to agitate, mate, I am just trying to point out that the fact that we are tracing some cases does not mean we are effectively tracing all cases if we are not comprehensively and continually testing all potentially impacted cohorts, which was the context of our discussion.

I freely admit I can be frustrating (even to my self at times) when it comes to these points because I am data scientist by trade so accuracy and statistical confidence is naturally at the forefront of the way I evaluate most things. It honestly drives my missus mad at times.

The information you are sharing is incredibly helpful to the general discussion, though, and I know most will appreciate the links as I do.
 
The problem with no world supreme leader is we are unable to take global decisions .

there should be a no flight ban for 3 weeks with central support to stop the spread globally. I worry for Africa and poorer countries.
 
My technology division is now working from home for at least 6 weeks. China office has been doing since their new year. They ordered hundreds of laptops last year and chucked a lot of money in infrastructure so everyone has a fast network connection. Gonna be boring but rather be at home than in the office.
 
I'm not religious, I don't believe the world is flat, I don't believe we are being controlled by a higher power or living in some simulation world, but the planet and in particular humans have really been punished in 2020 so far, it does make you wonder!

I must have misunderstood what you meant with your response to the discussion about the scale of UK testing we were having, then. If so, I apologise. And I can definitely confirm I am not meaning to agitate.

Nothing to wonder about in terms of this disease. We’ve created it; we’ve fucked around with Mother Nature and she’s fighting back. It’s a battle, ultimately, we cannot win.
