COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Problem is we don’t know the death rate or how many people have it, I think the plan is to look out of the window and guess. Look Boris 6 out of 10 people at that bus stop are coughing let’s do something.

Dear boy if they need a bus to travel I think we can wait a bit longer have you not seen the FTSE.
The 1% (ish) seems to be the most substantiated figure I can find, although within that it will obviously hit certain age groups harder than others. The 8-13% figures we see seem to be extrapolated from countries where they were not testing enough to know the true number infected so represent under detection of that rather than sky high death rates I think. Still no comfort for those affected obviously.

Christ, even Trump is introducing massive testing programmes and drive through programmes.

Are you saying our government is now officially more insane than Donald fucking Trump?

We introduced Drive through testing 3 weeks ago. At this point it is mostly useless.

Drive through testing means you get ill, drive to get a test, get tested, get the results in a few days and then when it comes back positive you self isolate. If you're not better in a week you consult medical advice.

The UK's policy is simply you get ill, assume you have coronavirus and isolate. If you don't get better in a week, you get tested when consulting medical advice.

All testing is doing is adding a middleman at great cost and using a precious resource. There's a reason something like 90% of the early tests were negative and when the world doesn't have that many kits, it's much better used on someone who's properly ill.

Been ill for three weeks, had antibiotics sent to me without seeing a doctor, I’m 51 asthmatic diabetes and high blood pressure, feel like death so been calling and finally received a return call from 111, apparently I’m officially a statistic as a covid carrier and as such I will receive a medical certificate advising against overseas travel and can ge used for insurance purposes, I’m not to attend hospital or doctors unless I am in dire straits as been very unwell is the norm? Feel like I’m in a parallel universe.

It’s said to be apocryphal, but for a long while the received wisdom was that Churchill was supposed to have heard about the Blitzkrieg of Coventry via the fledgling Enigma machine, a week or so in advance - but couldn’t directly respond to the message for fear of alerting the Germans to the emerging weapon that had revealed the raid. A weapon that ultimately played a huge role in winning the war.

It seems now that Churchill deployed significant defensive resources to Coventry in the days before the raid, which, if true, means that theory is bollocks, but before I arrived at that conclusion I pondered if I could do the same. To sacrifice people, if it was the least-worst option.

If I genuinely felt it was for the greater good, then I could, without hesitation, but it would be an awful decision to have to make, which would haunt me for my days.

Not posted too positively about Johnson previously, but I don’t envy the choices he’s having to make. He might be a ****, but I don’t think he’s a monster. People want things to be binary, when they simply can’t be.

There will be some tough decisions for him to make.

I genuinely pray for all leaders at this time. They can only rely on the best available scientific advice and scientists know they are in uncharted waters. Certain UK areas are going to be hit harder than others, through the paucity of resources there and the general poor health and age of their communities. There will inevitably be resentment and recrimination later, but no leader gets all the decisions correct.

The numbers of those who have actually tested positive now is wrong. I've seen numbers this week for my own eyes and no way does it resemble official figures. It can't do, the maths don't add up. It's either being downsized or official figures have a lot of catching up to do.

This is overwhelmingly going to take out the weak, which adds a degree of weight to some of the conspiracy theories.

Where i am everyone is still shuffling up to the village centre pubs in the same numbers they always do meaning all 4 pubs will be rammed as usual. I was going to nip in for a couple myself but i'll be seeing my parents soon so thought it best to steer clear for now. I am in good shape myself, especially since i have pretty much quit smoking, but should i be needed for elder members of the family i.e. go shopping for them or such i would like to do the best i can not to be a carrier.

Get well soon mate, you sound lucky as it is fatal on average after 18 days or at least that was the info a couple of days ago, The situation is moving so fast almost all stats are lagging behind. Are you feeling a bit better or still as fooked as you were 2 weeks ago or so?

This all day long.

According to official figures Manchester has 5 cases and Greater Manchester has 24. I’ve heard that there’s loads of CV patients in Crumpsall alone. Something doesn’t add up.

"A research team in Canada says it has successfully isolated severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2), i.e. the agent responsible for worldwide COVID-19 concerns.

The team includes researchers from Sunnybrook Research Institute, McMaster University, and the University of Toronto. Per a news release shared on Thursday, the isolation is the result of a "nimble collaboration" between the institutions, who were able to culture the virus in question from two clinical specimens in a Level 3-categorized containment facility.

"Researchers from these world-class institutions came together in a grassroots way to successfully isolate the virus in just a few short weeks," Dr. Rob Kozak, a clinical microbiologist at Sunnybrook, said. "It demonstrates the amazing things that can happen when we collaborate."

Officially there's 5 in the area I live. Yet I've seen concrete evidence of 3 in just those we have dealings with. And that's just 3 with whom we deal with.

Hang on in there lovely,if you feel you need help then get back onto both 111 and your gp on the phone

What I want to know is, it's says your at higher risk if you have high blood pressure, does that mean untreated blood pressure or even if your taken medication for it, like me?
