Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Season starts again about Sep and finishes November. Have a winter break and play next two season about Feb to October. Given we have a stupid World Cup in Nov 2022 that fits perfectly and then work back after that. Although we all know a better approach is scrap and start again and Scousers win nowt

Six more matches each.
The league cup is one option. Depends what the contract with the sponsor is.
Cancelling international friendlies is another option.
I assume that is what is being discussed at the moment.

If the league cup is scrapped, i doubt it will ever be back.
If the League Cup is scrapped It would be nice to think that City will hold it in perpetuity, particularly as not only are we the current holders but we have held it since 2018.

If they are given the league the relegated clubs get their money divided between them, after all it means more to them to get the cup not the cash
Would love to see John Henry & Tom Werner reaction....'you can have your title but you will get nowt in prize money.....take it or leave it'. I wonder what they prefer.?

Give Liverpool sod all. They haven't actually won it so how can they just be awarded it ?

The powers that be have been doing everything within their powers to give them the title since August so what’s changed? An awarded title would be wholly inconsistent with everything we’ve seen this season.

It’s in their hands. They can decide whatever they want.

Finishing the season as null and void is the most sensible thing to do. The relegation threatened teams will be happy, mid table teams won’t give a fuck. Leicester, United, Wolves, Sheff Utd and Liverpool are the obvious ones who would be against voiding the season.
It might be in their hands but open to litigation if it’s not stated how the issue can be resolved

If only it was so simple What about football contracts, which are synchronised world wide to start at July 1?

What about the transfer window?

Look at Chelsea, Willian is out of contract and Ziyech joins them July 1st I believe. Do you ban other transfers? You surely can’t. So you’d be continuing the league with teams completely changed. Those fighting for something will spend more than usual in order to improve their chances and so on.

It’s a farce.

Was out on a works do last night including a couple of Liverpool fans, two of the more rational sensible ones.

Both of them are gutted but are resigned to the season not being finished and them not being champions

What’s the chances of that? Both sensible Dipper fans at your works do !

the premier league haven’t even started their investigation of City’s supposed abuse of ffp yet, so how do you know?
Because PL FFP was introduced after the alleged UEFA breach PL FFP is different than UEFA FFP and City have not been anywhere near a breach

Well, I trust Khaldoon. If he agrees the PL to award Liverpool the title, there are good reasons to do it which he is not likely to share publicly, not immediately anyway.

Maybe so.

The question would have to be asked first, and that happening is currently pure speculation. That question can't be asked without asking how every other place is determined.

Don't think it's as simple as that, it is for the other thread, but if cas uphold the ban, then PL would logically have to take action against us, for misleading them etc.
Not that it has any bearing on this season.

not from the teams that might come up to the premier league like Leeds

what litigation the league hasn't finished Liverpool might lose all their remaining games that isn't fair on City who might catch them

It has to be one or the other null and void or finish as we are. Finish as we are will open the door to litigation. Season is not complete so the title can’t be decided. Leeds would use Liverpool as a comparator in any legal case - awarding a trophy without fixtures being completed. The media will back the Dippers - prepare for it but the PL and the FA will be taking advice from their lawyers and they’ll be very cautious. Force majeure is force majeure - not force majeure with a few fiddles.

Maybe they could give us a "gold" one. On second thoughts maybe not! LOL

I agree with her but she also asked Ron how hard it was to manage his son Dalian....so not exactly on the pulse.

That’s not quite true. The old sexist Ron told Karen Brady that Dalian Atkinson was his son in the Board Room before the game and thought he’d taken her in - maybe he had. He then told everyone in the press box because he thought it made him look good. I’ll leave it you to decide what it says about Ron Atkinson.

If that's true he really was a wanker.
