I know how you feel, my mother died 18 months ago had lots of health issues and fortunately passed quietly in her sleep, today's climate would have.terrifed her and no doubt would see her off should she have got the virus, it feels awful to say I,m glad she's not around for this but I cant deny that's how I feel.

Good on you. Im 59 and wife is 61 no health issues that we know off but it is a worry. One of my lads, mid 20s thinks its all one big joke. I worry that he is in for a shock.
 
I did the best thing I could do for my mum (she lives with me and my kids) and that is to tell her to stop watching the news and looking stuff up on the internet every waking minute. It just makes her incredibly worried. Plenty of reason to be concerned but I think the constant bombardment of negativity has made her extremely fearful and that doesn't help at all. We just sat down and talked about what it is sensible for us to do, what we need to avoid (we would both be classified as high risk) and focused on all the fun we can still have. Not much more we can all do other than take sensible precautions, stay positive and make the best of the situation.
 
Not even allowed outside except for food (only one person ) chemist hospital or essential work.
We have also been told to stay in doors for our own safety. ....due to helicopters spraying chemicals WTF

Drug discovery now deploys AI. This could potentially get fledgling companies in on the act, although manufacturing rights would doubtless be sold on.

That is a bit disconcerting. I can't imagine your crop foods will enjoy whatever the hell they are spraying if you can't go near the stuff. Strong measures, i hope they work.

It has strange effects Ric, my mum (older than yours) who rarely goes out (they cruise twice a year), and wanders round with wipes and gel everywhere she goes in her hand bag, wiping everything, yet when I spoke to her last night was telling me "well you can't stop going out, we'll carry on with our lives as normal", I was honestly gobsmacked as I spend most of my time telling her she needs to get out more, it didn't help me stop worrying though.

Yep helicopters it probably is some sort of cleansing fluid we had no problems down here in Torrevieja until the wankers from Madrid decided to treat the lockdown there as a fukin holiday and bring the virus to the cost as utter selfish cunts

I work in health care pal. Some of the stuff being discussed in meetings this week has made it really hit home for me. Worrying times.

Of note: PhD students are scientists, they get published as first authors in scientific studies.
The fact she doesn't personally know the scientists who signed the letter is also irrelevant, unless she's saying she personally knows all scientists in England and that those people are lying about their position. They clearly wrote their field of expertise next to their name when signing, a lot of them aren't virologists but they're all scientists. And that's exactly what's being reported.

Ranking in these situations is difficult, because different fields of expertise come into play.
 
Why are the names of the dead not being released on the news no interviews with the families? All very strange this
