I understand loads of reasons people will say that won’t or can’t happen but I’ve not found any outcome where everybody is happy

I think this also. Next season might go completely actually and they use the gap to finish this. I think that is the fairest outcome.

Whats to stop teams dragging this out by getting players and family members to say they have symptoms so games are constantly postponed, especially if you are in for relegation, dont say they wont stranger things will have gone on.

I cant see how you can have a league with a 6/9 month break its not the same league. Do you stop the summer transfer window so all teams finish with the squad they had when the xmas transfer window closed. What happens to the player whos contract finish in June ? Do teams end up with only say 15 players because of out of contract players. We would be without Daivd Silva, so we would only 24 man squad

You can't give one and not the others,to do that all the league leaders would have to be crowned champions and the bottom 3 all relegated.
THAT AINT FAIR with plenty enough games left,again,just my opinion.

Even if it gets finished, it won’t be for AT LEAST 3 months time, which means players would be out of contract etc. Potential season resumes without us having David Silva or Leroy Sane. It’s massively tainted whichever way you dress it up.

The only solution is for all competitions not completed this season are null and void. Do it now with a restart next season! The only potential compromise is that teams in promoted positions receive parachute payments, although this principle could be fraught with legal arguments.

What is sure is that money flowing into the game will be reduced. Football will have to take a hit that will be hard to come through. We cannot expect any football before August/September 2020.

makes you think, and I would guess those 8 teams would want it null n void which would go against the press/media say just give it to Liverpool, because if you have a winner you have losers as well by relegation !

I think the problems are that when football resumes there will have to be a pre season to get players match fit again. And then when this season ends there would have to be a close season. They would need time to finalise the fixture list for the new season. The relegated teams would need time readjust, sort out their playing contracts before they could start in the lower division.

There’s also the question of the transfer window. It couldn’t be held before the current season ends as clubs would try to buy their way out of relegation or secure European slots. I know the winter transfer window takes place during the season but that only accounts for 20-25% of deals. The clubs basically restructure their squads in pre season, can’t see them wanting to do that after the new season has started. There would have to be breathing space between the two seasons.

So we would have a closure, followed by a bland pre season, followed for a season end which for many clubs would be a damp squib, then another closure, followed by a fairly artificial season. I can’t see fans or the television companies accepting it.
