Etihad Campus, Stadium and Collar Site Development Thread

Manchester is missing a Birmingham style Conference and Events Centre or London Grosvenor House style hotel that can host prestige events.
When added to the new arena proposal, they would provide a compelling argument for improving transport and infrastructure.

Talking about concerts , I wonder why the Academy Stadium or even the Athletic's Stadium is never used for concerts for less bands ?
They both must hold around at least 10 thousand for concerts ?

Because there is no demand or need for outdoor concerts for a 10,000 capacity, at small outdoor venues which have no facilities to support such events.

Gigs requiring 10,000 capacity are catered for by the multiple arenas dotted around the country.

You should get in touch asap with Oak View to tell them to scrap their plans with immediate effect. All those months of feasibility studies and planning a £300m investment were pointless, cause the 'MEN is rarely sold out'.

Which is of course total bollocks. The current Arena is a 25 year old out of date sports venue unsuitable for gigs that is still the 10th biggest grossing Arena in the world !!!

I think Oak View know what they are doing.

Which is still rarely sold out but ok you know best

If the dire forecasts of the lengths of this crisis are correct then hospitality companies like this may not be around in 12 months time. However, I believe these stories to be rubbish. We're getting into the exponential phase of the crisis now where cases accelerate rapidly, and if the lockdown is followed properly then it should collapse as transmission is broken (see Wuhan).
