Bit confused as to who is in the at risk group for the 12 week isolation, anybody any idea?
According to Public Health England, COVID-19 poses the biggest threat to those who have weaker immune systems and long-term - or chronic - illnesses.

Some of the chronic conditions said to heighten the risk among patients are:

  • Heart disease
  • Lung disease
  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • Cancer
Ireland's health services have also released a list of conditions that weaken the immune system, and include:

  • Patients undergoing treatments for cancer
  • Patients undergoing treatments for autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis (MS) and inflammatory bowel diseases
  • Patients with HIV
  • Anyone who has had organ or bone marrow transplants
Asthma sufferers are also thought to be at a greater risk of being worse affected by the virus, which causes an infection in the respiratory tract

Smokers as well

haha, i'ld be absolutely fine being cooped up for weeks, unfortunately I am in the dont work dont get paid camp and 2 months of that would be the whole family homeless scenario so despite being in the 12 week group I simply don't have a choice but to carry on coming to work.

The government has the power to help this and the chancellor will likely step in and he's due to speak today.

I would expect council tax and other things to all go out the window if people need to stay at home. Mortgage payment holidays are already being offered by banks.

I don't suppose these people are doing any less than the people who went to the races or to church or shopping for bog roll, obviously they haven't observed the requirements laid down by the Spanish but the Spanish do invite millions of drunks over each year to get their cash off them.
I'm not having a go at the Spanish but I suspect this type of DM clickbait reporting doesn't give the full picture, who was the journalist? Is he OK because he's a bit posher than the Geordies?

Not a clue about the journo/poster tbf. Whilst Spain might benefit from said money, this attitude does my head in. That said, if offered a free holiday in Benidorm I'd probably choose to pitch a tent on the m62 instead.

It's difficult because the response is made by government for the country but the country is at very different stages depending on the region.

For example, London has 1000+ cases whereas Lancashire where I live has 8. By physical size Lancashire is probably bigger than London but the population size is a fraction of that. You could argue then that the risk in Lancashire even to the vulnerable is more or less zero.

I could easily go a week without coming into close contact with anyone except my girlfriend and a handful of work colleagues. I drive to work and my only risk is work, going shopping and going out to eat etc. If I worked from home then the risk of me getting it or spreading it is dependent on how many 0.000 decimal places you can fit on a page....

Chances are here in Lancashire there will be 100 cases within the next week or so whereas London will have 10,000 so the response needs to be different and proportionate.
Your geographical variance is exactly our experience in Spain ie Madrid in crisis, here in rural SE Spain very few in fact none to date in our H O town area.
The whole of Spain has been put on lockdown.

Not to mention the Tweeter, obviously still upset from last year, is presuming when he doesn’t know who these people are.

It is a disgrace though, if you go into another country, fucking behave yourself and show some respect.

My sister has just been taken away in an ambulance due to this fucking awful thing. She is 34 for fucks sake

This week we were all due to attend our wedding on Friday. The whole thing is fucked

Don’t give a shit about anything but my sister now, and my 10 year old nephew

Sitting here at home in Sweden (Stockholm) and the Public warning system just sounded. Apparently it's just a big ammonia leak a bit away. Almost shat my pants.

Hope it goes well bud. The ages of people suffering in the past week are really worrying.

I suspect a fair few who have been refusing to accept the seriousness won’t do so until it hits home in a similar example to yours.
Hope everything turns out ok for you and yours. Stay safe.

Mum and Dad carrying on as normal, just spoke to my mum and she's started coughing. I've lost count of how many times I've told them to stay in and avoid contact with everyone, it is hard not to get angry!

Sorry mate, hope it all works out
