that's wrong about deaths, they had about the same, maybe bit more yesterday. it's definitely looking like they hopefully reached the peak, last 3 4 days, the numbers of new cases are not rising too much,

The number of new cases are what matters when assessing how the infection is progressing because it's an instant current snapshot whereas deaths relate to past history. Ultimately that will be what counts but day to day it's the trend in new cases that matters. Not sure one day's figures are enough to judge though. We need a sustained downturn. Italy is probably the best country to watch as they started the emergency action first so they should see its results first.

So does anyone understand the detail of our testing strategy? Can you describe it and the rationale behind it. We seem to be making no attempt to test contacts of sufferers like the Chinese did. wHO say testing is the absolute key to virus control so why are we doing different?

It depends on who they are testing,if they are targetting it differently like we are and testing in the community has changed then the numbers are going to be skewed,i think we should take the rate of infection figures as an guide and not an absolue,you can probably times it by 10 at least

That's true. UK new cases are a useless measure now as it misses a whole group of people who are 'under the radar'.
