Fkin yanks behind it one way or other. Chinese flu hey trump? Convenient dat innit u fukin orange umpalumpa twat
And more to the point how do you get the PL to vote for an 18-team League? Five down would mean that everyone bar the traditional top-six (and maybe some of them) would feel threatened with relegation.Perhaps it's too early but how does that reduce the number of teams?
Chinese are nowhere near opening spectator sport. I talk everyday to the chineseFive months I'd have thought, still a life sentence.
I`ve been saying for a few years now,that we need to revert back to the old Leagues (Div 1 and 2) of North & South.Look at the money saved there by clubs on transport costs and more "local type" derby games would hopefully see larger attendances.Lets face it the virus is here for the foreseeable future. I don't think anyone thinks in reality that we wont still be seeing cases late into this year, possibly early 2021. So I cannot see this season being finished or the next one starting.
It is therefore just a case of postponing everything and any decision until we know what is going on.
And what will fuel or lead that decision? MONEY!
They cancel season, null and void and all the money they will have to pay back to the TV companies, sponsors etc plus having to pay out to teams for the time and effort for the 28/29 games played. Not something thy will want to do.
Then we have potential 20/21 season. The PL will be crapping themselves as to what sort of deals they gonna get from sponsors and the penalties or cut in income if the season gets delayed.
It is sad for all supporters and employees of clubs, especially lower league clubs. I have had some great days out watching gams at Aldershot, Barnet, S****horpe & Maidstone and fear that many are going to go the way of Bury if this goes on much longer.
Contrary to many of the conspiracy theories I have read on here (Liverpool thread), it's not any bias that is holding up a decision, it's all about the money
Liverpool ARE money. They're establishment, they earn money for the PL and the media.Lets face it the virus is here for the foreseeable future. The fuckers currently should appoint me as the FL Chairman I`d put the fuckers right. ;)
In 17/18 the combined profit before tax of the 20 PL clubs was £465m (average £23.2m per club). 13 made a profit, 7 made a loss. Contrary to public perception the PL is not awash with money, although the players do quite well out of it. With 1 or 2 notable exceptions, club owners are not exactly raking it in. So yes it will be about money, but not so much in a greedy way, more that club finances are generally quite fragile and the potential hit from reduced television revenue will be quite painful. In the medium to long term the PL will adapt, playing contracts will be a tad less generous, but it’s not really the case that rich PL clubs can bail out the smaller clubs when , as you say, many of them are crapping themselves.Lets face it the virus is here for the foreseeable future. Do these idiots never learn ?A number of clubs expect the Premier League to push back the April 4 date they set for the resumption of football. All 20 clubs will discuss on Thursday how to complete the season but no decision is expected beyond a broad commitment to try and do so by June 30
It is unlikely that a proposal to play Premier League games behind closed doors and a neutral venues will gain much support. The idea would be for two to three stadiums in one part of the country to host the games with players being kept in hotels.
@TeleFootball
That will be a hot bed for infection,stupid idea
Something you touched on and has not received much attention is the impact of all this on players income. They stand to lose out big time in the short term and the medium to long term impact may be a lowering of pay levels.In 17/18 the combined profit before tax of the 20 PL clubs was £465m (average £23.2m per club). 13 made a profit, 7 made a loss. Although if FFP rules are relaxed some owners will be prepared to invest more money
All that is going to happen on 04 Apr is to extend the current situation, or if the death toll is high enough for the dippers to be more concerned about COVID than football they will finally bin the season. If not, it will be the same in May, and then June until we reach the point where season tickets and tv income is not refundable. The present media bollocks about the season resuming is probably just to prevent MORE rioting and MORE murders on Merseyside.
I know he'll never top any popularity contests on here, but credit where credit's due. Yes, it's easy for him to do it. He's not short of a bob or two. He doesn't have to do it though.
