Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

That's a different test which tests if you've had it, the one I'm talking about is just if you have it right now - but because it only takes 15 minutes, you can guarantee people are safe to play football with others.
Sport are the last ones who should be getting their hands on it,how many 1,000's of footballers/coaches/physios etc need testing before 2/3/4 games every week in the prem alone, scrap sport for now

Oh wow, it's like you didn't even read my original post and are just jumping in to pontificate again.

Quelle Surprise.

627 people dead in one day in Italy. Considering we’re two weeks behind them as they say, there’s not a fucking chance were playing football until after he summer has finished, I’d say even longer. They should save everyone’s time and cancel the season now. Give Liverpool the title, who gives a fuck now.

Yes, I posted yesterday that it will get to the stage where missing one season is inevitable. Tebas saying Spain will restart mid May as they need to finish by end of June to avoid impacting next season. Neville made the point that even behind closed doors games will need emergency services, it’s fanciful it will happen. A 2 week festival of football with all teams playing every day? Imagine a footballer gets injured and needs to go to hospital? Player welfare count for anything?
Imagine VVD goes down first match and they lose or draw their remaining games, would be piss funny if we caught them. I know it would never happen but in these dark days it’s the little things that keep me going.

Tebas is truly deranged and has zero credibility anywhere, including Spain. What he says is irrelevant. The situation in Spain is appalling and the public backlash in Spain if football resumed while people are still dying would be off the scale.
The inhumane response we have seen from some key figures in football is shameful. People will never forgive them for the way they have behaved in this crisis and that includes many of the media pundits here who are motivated purely by self interest.

Football at the highest level is now completely irrelevant. It's the second world war with no bombs evacuation or poverty. I feel more for the league one downwards as many small community clubs. More Bury to happen.

In june it's looking like a festival of funerals unfortunately

Lets not do this dance again, you said there will be a test they can use,i am saying they shouldn't,there are many more places that the tests can be rolled out to before sport

Unfortunately for Liverpool, can't help feel that the May start back will just be pushed to June, then July then August then....

Science advisors briefing today special measure will be in place for 12 months yet 5 live football “experts” tonight talking about the Prem returning in May...
As such, at this rate maybe we’ll have a preseason/friendlies in the autumn of this year, and just pick up the remains on this season in early 2021, allowing a well paced run in to Euro 2021 in the summer. ie no new league comp for 20/21 season.
I’m just talking out of my arse obviously, but the time scales the govt are briefing just seem way way out of kilter with those in ‘football bubble’.

And if you'd not jumped into a conversation half way through you'd know I'd already said that.

Football is just like all the other sports...they can't just say "Oh well no sport for the forseeable future lets meet back whenever". They have to just say "maybe we can start in May..." and then when that deadline passes, try and organise it for a few months after that.

Tennis is rearranging Roland Garros for September, F1 thinks it might be able to do Baku onwards and go through their summer break, Rugby hopes to finish the 6 Nations in October etc.

None of them are likely to happen if the government are right but you can't just pack up and come back in 18 months.

Agreed. I suppose it gives people something closer to look forward to I guess ...
