If some of the more wilder predictions are correct in terms of the numbers to be infected...

I would greatly fear one day a global decision to let a majority of the elderly and at risk people simply die.

Never would survival of the fittest be more worrying.

It sounds like something out of a horror film but it's not beyond the realms that those deemed mortally wounded on the battlefield will be left to die.

Focused on treating those they know are easily saved?

Natural selection.

I wouldn't be so sure about the fruit and veg coming through. Where are all the EU pickers and packers? Plenty of work in the fields for redundant hotel workers (oh wait, they're from the EU too.)

I am serious by the way. Sheep farmers and their families are self isolating rather than risk going down with it with hundreds of ewes about to give birth. Growers not sure how to get stuff out of the ground.

Perhaps the second home owners gone to rural areas will volunteer in the fields.

Because sheep farming is one big social whirl.

And March is peak growing season in the U.K.

Fuck me I hope I don`t go in for an ingrowing toe nail.

Would any of you honestly go to a family meal with your nan and grandad , if they were all sensible, no touching, handshakes etc ?

I didn’t realize you had caught it. -do you mind me asking if you have tested positive and subsequently negative? Understand if you don’t wish to disclose any info.

If not tested negative what advice are you being given in terms of socializing , dry interested in this immunity issue as it seems very key to a lot of the strategies moving forward.

Couldn't get through on the phone to 111.
Followed the advice and submitted questionaire answers to 111 online.
It said I probably had it and was given advice. Asside from managing symptoms, I was told to contact them immediately if symptoms got worse.
They didn't.
I am now very nearly better. The odd twinge in the lungs and kidneys but that's it.
My youngest, a Care of the Elderly Registrar thinks I've had it as my reported symptoms are all in the wrong order for cold/cough/flu - especially the stuffy nose at the end - even though I didn't have the fever.

My neighbours are both in their 70's.

Currently they've got their daughter and son-in-law round with their three kids.

BREAKINGAlmost 800 more dead in Italy

Deaths continue to spiral in Italy. Official figures show 793 have died of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours - another daily record.

In total 4,825 people have now died across the country.

More than 53,500 have been diagnosed with the virus nationally, up more than 6,500 since yesterday

Fcuking hell

How are the over 65's going to get food? If it is anything like here there is very little on the shelves so getting a decent amount to last isn't an option. The sub 18's is an interesting one. All our schools are closed here and the kids are certainly not staying indoors.

it was same with us. Schools are closed for 10 days, but weather is great and kids were out whole day. I trained with my kid outside few times. The logic is that they mix too much on playgrounds and can then transmit it to the older ones. I don't know about old ones and shopping tbh, guess they went that most have someone to do it for them, we still live a lot in our parents houses etc.

Anyone think all key workers pay should be doubled whilst there the ones having to carry on whilst everyone else is sat at home watching tv?
No.

It's not a good time to be venal and self-absorbed when so many are losing livelihoods and shitting themselves with every medical and economic turn.

Good to hear back on path to health mate.

A global decision? No. Each country has its own sovereignty. And you make this decision when you're absolutely sure can't save everyone in front of you, but you make it situation by situation. It's not an outlandish decision and it has to be made in some cases, but there won't be a global turn of backs on the elders and ill.

Absolutely tragic, and we are in danger of heading the same way if we are not careful.
