COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Sorry but I saw a doctor on tv dispel most of this advice.

That must be fake news - and seriously warped.

If the virus couldn't live in the heat, we wouldn't be seeing it so prolific in certain countries.

The Listerine is also a joke theory.
As is holding your breath for ten seconds.

Scary I've seen this circulated to me a couple times over the weekend.

Article in the telegraph today saying doctors want new symptoms added to the list because so many people are complaining of losing taste and smell, and eye pain.

I recently recovered from some illness, all the symptoms of the virus but I'd thought the timeline was wrong so just wrote it off as a chest infection. Coughing so bad I cut up an old towel to cough into then binned it a couple of times a day. Fever and then shivers, I ended up in bed basically fully clothed long johns under my PJs. The crap I eventually coughed up was beyond horrible,a sticky mess. To look at it reminded me of softened scabs like you would peel off after a bath or shower. I had to push it down the plug hole. The other thing that I'd never experienced before was my tongue felt as though I had scalded it and the skin under my eyes felt like it was being burnt by my tears. I just used Beechams type hot lemon drinks until I felt a bit better and then Sudafed to clear my sinuses across my forehead.

Mrs now has an irritating cough. She's been at it for a couple of weeks, which as we are together pretty much 24/7 isn't surprising. I'm so glad to say nothing more than that.

Anyway, apologies for the graphic detail but the more of the virus I read the more I wonder? Until an antibody test becomes available, who knows?

Considering the trouble Intu are in, they could do a lot worse than offer the Trafford Centre as a makeshift hospital space? Imagine how many beds you could get in there if we had them and the logictics of parking bays and warehouses.

It's not as if the shops are open.

I saw the huge exhibition centre in Madrid has done this over the weekend for 5000 beds all well spaced.

how long does this illnes go on for if you get it, first well known persn to get it was that Iranian health secretary, ive heard nothing about him since, and othesr have gone into quarentine and disapeared with no follow up.i thought it was 14 days and your better?
I was watching CNN in the night,a dr was taking questions,he was asked how long it lasts and said some are about 5 days but it could be as long as 14,he also said we don't know if you get immune when you have had it but with other viruses you are so you probably are,in other words no-one has a fucking clue,it also depends if you have other medical conditions, mine are full relapse,it will be a long time, about a year i think to get back to where i was

How are you feeling today kaz,

Just had a meeting in work and we've been informed that if anyone receives a letter stating they are in a high risk category, and should self isolate for 12 weeks, then they have to use holidays as not eligible for company sick pay.

I dont think they can do that. My understanding is that the letter would be "medical advice" and as so you would be entitled to 50% of your normal salary not sick pay. No waiting days etc. If you are stuck pm me and I'll find the full info.

Edit..
Just checked this out and I got it wrong, the above is only applicable to a decent employer ( my sis in laws) who is offering more than the basic.

My doctor sent me for an eye test last year because I was getting head aches and eye ache and he thought it could be my eye sight getting worse and me straining my muscles to see better.

But the optician asked me a series of questions and concluded (after my eye test showed my eyes were spot on) that it’s likely it could be that I’m stressed and getting tension headaches or that my forehead and muscles around my eyes were contracting a lot due to a light being on above my head in my office at work... I turned the light off the next week and the headaches disappeared.

Not particularly related to the topic but thought I’d bring it up
Get your blood pressure checked mate I had pains above my left eye and I mean pains thought it was my eyes but it was blood pressure I had cluster headaches you don't want them honest then a massive thunderclap headache from which I had to have a lumberpuncter for a bleed on the brain I haven't worked since good luck mate.

It's worrying. I have no idea who starts these things but the original person should be held to task.

When you get a virus like this - although the body ‘defeats’ the underlying virus in 5 to 10 days; other bodily functions can be impaired for many weeks afterwards - you cannot and will not return to A1 health quickly. As an aside take plenty of vitamin b, magnesium is good for energy and your stomach bacteria is probably depleted. Probiotics, kefir and sauerkraut for you....!

How bad does shortness of breath have to be before you go through 111? I have had slight shortness of breath for about a week, nowhere near to the extent that I’m fighting for breath but enough to notice that i’m not 100% in my chest. I am quite phlegmy, needing to clear my throat a lot and occasionally it causes me to need to cough. But I wouldn’t describe the cough as persistent. I don’t have a fever. So I am fairly sure it’s not covid-19 but just generally, is this slight shortness of breath a concern or will it just sort itself out? I don’t know why, but it is more noticeable in the evenings and at night.
As far as I am aware the advice is NOT to call 111 unless the severity of symptoms is so bad that under normal circumstances, you would be calling 111. Most people would not be calling 111 for flu-like symptoms.

I can only imagine that 111 is inundated with calls and it seems sensible for people not to be ringing them "just in case" for symptoms which are not severe. That's the advice from the government anyway.

I presume they'll use Victoria Warehouse and Manchester Central if it gets to that. Fingers crossed it doesn't.

I agree, that’s how I understand the advice too. But it seems difficult to know when that moment is, and not leave it too late.

Fair play to Piers Morgan, I don't always agree with him - but he is going in hard on Hancock and the government.

I agree with Morgan but i think he needs to be aiming it at boris and the health experts,in reality he is a minister doing his best, this has never happened before and i think he is not the one taking the decisions such as locking the country down
