Once they give info to self employed building sites will shut down it's the uncertainty that's causing this
Understandable, mate. There's a lot to take in at the moment. Also a lot of it appears to be deliberately vague. You are right I could have sworn he said building sites to closed
This. Some people are asking obtuse questions either to WUM or because they think it makes them look clever.Or the last.
Just watching the telly and there are numerous people ringing in with questions, many of them fairly obscure or regarding complex situations. Not really the types of circumstances that politicians and civil servants could reasonably be expected to have anticipated. If the government had instructed the civil service to resolve all these issues before the announcement it would have taken weeks. At least now these issues are being highlighted and can be dealt with.
I think the government can be blamed for some big omissions in their announcements. For example, not addressing the issue of the self employed. I don’t think they can reasonably be criticised for not having the detail 100% sorted.
Wasn’t the Arsenal game the Wednesday?
Missing the point, as are many getting hung up on what is or isn't essential.
It isn't the type of work, but how it is carried out, that makes the difference whether it is essential to leave the house or not.
If you have to work on site, it is essential to leave the house.
Sadiq Khan
That's what we're getting at though.
The advice needs to be that only essential services should be going to work, not every job that can't work from home.
There is absolutely no need for certain businesses to be opening as things stand, even if you can't work from home, if you're not essential then shut down.
I get that you've mentioned it's about slowing things down for the NHS but on current advice, Public Health procedures aren't even being followed. I posted this earlier (apologies for anyone seeing it again) but look at the tube this morning:

Not even 2cm's apart let alone 2 metres.
Only essential businesses should be open.
Me too. They have to leave some things to common sense and hope the vast majority act accordingly. Devising a rule for every eventuality is simply not feasible. This makes sense to me. They can't close every garage because people need them occasionally.

What a fucking abomination that photo is.
TFL/Khan should either be putting on more trains or they should cancel it altogether.
Who the fuck is running this country?
No, garage and cars are essential to keep our first line NHS key workers going etcPerhaps the dealer sells food and medicine as well as cars . Seriously I would of thought car dealers have to close.
Good point.Feel happy mate! Many of us have lost our jobs.
Well yes, but there's no point running empty trains. But turning them into packed trains again takes a special sort of idiot. That explains why you've not seen much criticism of it from certain posters on here.
And their role (in the thing starting in the first place (most likely)
Leaves you in a tricky position so wrongI work for a major worldwide company. I am installing some machinery in a local factory next week which is expected to run for 2 and half weeks. I E mailed my boss asking what's going on as I would of thought the factory would close after the news. He's just replied it's business as usual. So that's about 800 staff walking around the shop floor then. What is the point.!!!
