We'll never know the true death rate unless absolutely everyone is tested.

I'm not sure it overly matters though in that the death (and high illness) rate is serious enough for all countries to lock down, that's all people need to really know about the severity of this.

Has anyone else had a text to stay in?
I’ve got one. At first I thought it was a bit unnecessary, who doesn’t already know this stuff? But then I remembered only 10 days ago encountering a former neighbour who I hadn’t seen for a while when out walking with my wife. After evading her attempts to hug us and the usual chit chat about what we had been doing, she told us excitedly about the holiday she would be going on with her boyfriend. When we said “but what about the virus” she looked baffled. She thought it was still only in China, had next to no knowledge of what was going on. She never watches anything remotely to do with the news. We left her still confident that her holiday would go ahead “Dave will find a way”. I do hope she’s received a text.

Just been reading that Iran has tested 38 million people. This may explain why they were the big story a few short weeks ago but are now trailing behind Italy and Spain.

Following the testing, 74,000 people were sent to health centres, 8,000 were hospitalised, of whom 3,000 required intensive care.

This does beg the question how a country reeling from economic sanctions can get it's act together when more prosperous countries can't.

Further to Sports Direct intention to ignore the ban Sky reporting that they were hiking prices in store last night.
Here’s what Sky said:

“Sports Direct has hiked prices of some sports equipment, including skipping ropes, weights and resistance belts, by more than 50% in some cases on Tuesday, according to documents seen by the PA news agency.

One manager has contacted Sky News to say: "It's absolutely profiteering from this situation.

"Things like dartboards, yoga mats, basketball hoops, fitness equipment were all due to increase this morning.

"All things that people who are stuck at home may have a use for.

"It's rare for us to increase so many products in one go."

Video going around of Tim Martin basically telling his employees that they'll be fine because the government have stepped up to pay now but it could be a few months, so if you want a job go to Tesco because I can't pay you.

Hope people remember how certain people reacted in times of crisis when this is all over.
I'll never drink in Weatherspoons again after his comments last week saying he should be allowed to remain open.

What a scummer of a man Ashley is, on a par with Branson..

Ha, I think I’ll stick with the WHO and Lancet for now. Funny as fuck that you managed to google one source (that’d you’d 100% never heard of before your googled it) to back up your (incorrect) assertion that most people now believe the death date is 0.7-1% though.

You also failed to address the point regarding death occurring 2-8 weeks after symptoms. Meaning the deaths that have happened as of today weren’t even classed as confirmed cases two weeks ago.

We’ll not know the death rate until this virus stops spreading and only then.

Even after being wrong so many times on this thread, you’re still playing everything down. Why?
The problem is that although we know how many deaths have occurred we have no idea of how many people actually have the virus other than those tested. If we accept only 6k+ cases in the UK then the death rate is high. However we also have to accept that in reality the number of actual cass whilst unknown is probably vastly more than reported which brings the death rate down. Do you only think that less than 1% of the Chinese population caught the virus?

Possibly because the numbers are inaccurate??
