The NHS Nightingale Hospital will open next week.

The temporary hospital will have up-to 4,000 beds available for the public, with its opening set to alleviate the strain on hospitals across the country.

Health secretary Matt Hancock revealed the plans to open the hospital in the governments daily press conference-designed to inform the public of updates throughout the development of the coronavirus pandemic.

The NHS Nightingale Hospital will be opened in the London ExCeL Centre and will consist of two wards.

It will only be open to members of the public who have contracted coronavirus.
Ah thanks pet.

Anybody else thinking the same as me that we have not had the number of deaths yet because the numbers might be up drastically compared to previous days? Or am I just a pessimistic sod!!

Doesn’t that double our ICU capacity inside one building?

It’s also got two morgues, sadly.

I think I heard we have around 12,000 at the moment with the private sector making theirs available plus some additional ones created. Not sure if that included the 4,000 from this new place or not.

Strange how we all lockdown, stop using cars, pollution reduces and it suddenly goes nice and warm outside.

It's snowing lightly here for 2-3 days. Almost nothing on the ground, but it's still snowing. Before that, it was great weather though.

Totally agree. I can’t go and see my mum, but I can jump on the tube everyday and go and do a non-essential job such as building luxury homes.
And you can’t go and have a pint to wash the dust down , but you can volunteer to play doctors & nurses with fuck all ppe!
It’s a fucking farce, an absolute disgrace forcing people to work in unnecessary construction sites!

Any Blues, from London ? My girl is now at the Excel Centre, its an exhibition hall and is being converted into an emergency hospital for 2500 beds, feel proud of my daughter but scared too, this is moving fast
A video going around at the moment showing how vast it is. Actually 4000 beds. You should be proud.

Video on facebook of a spark who is working on it and he says along with the 4000 beds they are building 2 morgues and that talk is they are expecting huge numbers to succumb.

Terrible and I think the NEC in Birmingham is next in line for similar work.
