Ons released earlier 41 dead over 11 days
The ONS death figures are based on the number of deaths registered in England and Wales where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate as "deaths involving COVID-19".

The number includes all deaths, not just those in hospitals, although there is usually a delay of at least five days between a death occurring and registration.

The figures published by NHS England and Public Health Wales are for deaths only among hospital patients who have tested positive for coronavirus, but include deaths that have not yet been registered.

Clear as mud

A GP was on tv this morning saying the ONS count people that had covid mentioned on their death certificate but maybe not their main condition

So we're going to end up like Spain and Italy then... despite the head start.

Not necessarily. Italy - especially in Lombardy - got overloaded and a lot of unnecessary deaths happened because of that. ferguson and co. still think we will not go over capacity, so we should see Italy's numbers accelerate away from us. We're back to being 17 days behind them now.

As long as the new cases are higher than outcomes ,good or bad, then we should expect the deaths to rise, hopefully the peak won’t be as high as Italy or Spain , unfortunately deaths wont’t peak until after new cases start falling think I saw somewhere about a week- 10 days after.
Personally I think the new cases will start to drop sooner than 3 weeks about 2 but mortality rates will be about 3 before they start to fall.

The peak won't be as high as Spain or Italy I don't think but it will last longer.

Oh that is ok then
It is considering the first thoughts were that 60% of the country’s population could contract it and 1% - 3.5% of those could die which would have been anything between 406,785 - 1,423,748 dead.

Why dont people get it ? My missus just showed me a text from her mum (it's her birthday) my missus brother and wife lives with her. The grand daughter and her friend( 6 yrs olds) made her some cup cakes.

I just looked at my missus and said what was the daughter's friend doing in their house ?

Stay in your own home its not rocket science

Its dreadful but these kind of figures were going to come.

Perhaps its me but nothing shocks me anymore. Its clearly shocked some, its going to get worse I am afraid.
It is dreadful, but these figures were predicted and will continue, and I find it surprising avid followers of this thread are as surprised as they seem. For me the important figure at the moment, and I know its only indicative, are the rates new cases grow, if we can slow that and keep the peak down the death rates will follow by them selves.

it is to some people though. Just seen four elderly people having a walk, obviously not from the same household and seemingly without a care in the world. Also heard a lady rip into this guy in a store as he brushed past her despite lines on the floor marking our a two metre gap and everyone one else complying. His excuse was ' I said excuse me'. She was quite rightly fuming. If you are too stupid to not keep your distance or you can't stay at home then this country has no hope.
