Boris Johnson admitted to hospital - now discharged

It's hard to read this, he might well be in hospital as a precaution, but we all know that if he was in a bad way, Downing Street would've run with the precaution story any way. From a political/PR standpoint, Johnson going to hospital is not what the government would've wanted, which leads me to believe it's worse than they're letting on, then again his doctor might have read the riot act and told him in no uncertain terms to go to hospital like right now.

Either way, it's worrying on a personal and political level.

It is difficult to read but personally I’m not convinced you take someone to hospital as a ‘precaution’ during a pandemic. As PM he will naturally have access to a level of medical care at home that the rest of us will not so to hospitalise him indicates something serious enough to warrant the negative optics and impact on the currency and stock market.

They won’t go for Raab, he’s not remotely likeable enough.

It will be Raab as that is his cabinet position, plus, johnson said it when he first went ill, also his team trust raab as on the same page as them, they tollerate gove but won't let him near running the show. Hancocks too busy, sunal inexprienced and patel has disapeared.

I've put this above already, but the only possible 'precaution' in this scenario is that you don't want there to be a delay to urgent medical care beyond the capability of Downing Street while he's taken from there to a hospital if there's an emergency.

Raab can read? Well that’s an unexpected development.

Reasonable point.

Cummings won’t keep Raab there for long even if it is him by default to begin with.

Not good news if he is. Facetimed my brother and his wife (who are both doctors) yesterday who both stated the survival rate for people who go onto ventilators is about 50%.

Not good for the nations stability if he takes a turn for the worse.

Shit me I didn’t know that.

Let’s hope he’s alright.

Can’t trust the Ruskies so hopefully it’s bollocks.

You think Cummings is looking good right now? He's not elected, which is a pretty big handicap. Several accounts that have appeared in the national papers in recent weeks, all sourced from unnamed cabinet ministers, have not particularly favoured him.

well he has gone to hospital - tell you what it must be urgent coz hospital is no place to be right now - the issue gets serious if he needs intensive care from what I have seen - hospitalisation is step one but escalation to ICU does seem to be the critical step.
Indeed. The 'it is just precautionary' line is clearly bollocks. If anyone was going to the best care available to someone self isolating ina flat with symptoms it is the PM. Hospital is not the place to be; doctors and nurses are dying of it. Not good news. Sincerely wishing him well.

Cummings won't have a say if johnson is completely incapacitated and unable to sign off on things, Raab or any one else coveromg as PM will rely on advisors of choice.

Keeping Raab who is loyal to johnsons ideas in charge is better for cummings than having someone like gove

I have a friend who works in hospital and treating corona patients - she says the ventilators are an absolute last resort for the patients.
