There is little doubt that Mr Trump has done everything he can to reward those companies who contributed to his election fund.

I’d say that those who have discounted his proposed therapeutics out of hand could be in for a shock. The question I’d ask is what’s in for him to recommend a drug that turns out to be a dud? If he pushes this therapy in the teeth of opposition from the media and it turns out to save American lives it could turn out to be a game changer in the fight against the virus and therefore in his re-election campaign.

It's a gamble, like all his other business deals.

Seriously ill people will take it and not die, and it will be hailed as a success even though it was never proven that the drug assisted in their recovery.
