COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Sky have an article saying research shows that the virus can travel in the air and last longer around 7 mins now that a big worry if totally true.

Which is why it would be really useful to know how much likely infection is if you pass a jogger rather than if you pass where he was seven minutes ago.

Interesting points about the R0 being a lot higher now (around 6?). Sounds awful on first glance but there was a point made on here last night that it might actually be good news (perhaps meaning a higher portion of the population are already infected with mild symptoms).
There's a few discussions on the same thing knocking around. But I genuinely do not know....it's becoming increasingly difficult to separate (or even find) fact from speculation.

I am sticking to my opinion that tens of millions have had it.

I don’t know why you seem to think that I think I’m saying that society is full of angels and everyone in the force is a ****. That’s not what I’m saying at all.

Some of the things the Police have to put up with and are subject to are abhorrent. Like I said I wouldn’t blink twice if these cunts who have COVID-19 who are coughing and spitting at officers were shot in the head.

But when an ex-girlfriend of mine turned up at my work once with cuts and bruises all over her and one eye closed up because her Police sergeant father had beaten her up, my eyes were opened that the Police force has cunts within it too.

Of course they do. Every job in the world has cunts in it, the difference is, and I mean it with all due respect of the horrible circumstances of what happened to your ex, if her dad was a mechanic or a cashier at morrisons then you wouldn't automatically have a negative view of mechanics or cashiers. Police have a good few arseholes amongst them but because of the role they do and the position they represent they are judged to higher standards than anyone else. The absolute vast majority of them do an outstanding job in difficult circumstances, but it's UK culture where the good that they do doesn't usually warrant headlines and the public are fed the negative outlook.

I sincerely hope that anyone who coughs or spits on the police, NHS staff or anyone else particularly during this time gets the book thrown at them. I'll support the police in every single circumstance here.

The one that gets me is the reduced area in Morrisons. It's still like a fucking bear pit.
Queueing 60+ outside with these fuckers loitering with little intention of buying fuck all else.
I need to take the plunge myself today and I'll be addressing it with the manager. Along with the bags of 400g grated cheese that's being sold at 500g prices. Robbing bastards.
Plenty of time to grate the cheese yourself nowadays. Pet hate of mine it must be said, pregrated cheese, carrots, garlic. I do disagree with the profiteering though. Shouldn't happen.

Good point!

I’ve gone we’ll off topic n’all...

Not wishing to politicize your discussion further, but I think the current circumstances could provide the UK with the opportunity to train far more nurses and indeed doctors from within its own population. Purely based on the physical constraints, which may have an effect for a couple of years, I cannot envisage universities being in a position to run a cap on the number of UK doctors/nurses and top up their coffers with high-paying foreign candidates. There will also, unfortunately, be a larger pool of unemployed people in the UK, who may come to see a career in nursing as a more attractive proposition. Either way, the situation needs to change as the country cannot rely on external sources from which it may be unable to draw. :-)
For the Army we have The Territorials, for the Police we have The Specials. Is there such an official organisation for say Nurses? If not then there should be.

Problem is a police officer is here to protect, not smash your face in, it’s not even slightly relative to compare to any other sector of work.

My 30 year old son lives with us. The thought of him having his grimey mit wrapped around my Pilgrims Choice makes me feel quite uneasy. Pre grated for peace of mind.

On my way to Newquay in a minibus with 7 other surfers and the m6 and m5 are really quiet. We all all have really dry coughs so hopefully the fresh air will do us good. Looking forward to a nice bbq on the beach tonight all gathered round the camp fire

You serious ? The advice is to STAY IN

I’m not going out , instead i’ve got all the lads to come round my house, get the beers out, gonna have a massive party and order some strippers.

Don't forget to invite the neighbours, first rule when you have a potentially noisy party.

Which maths? Nothing wrong as far as I can see, not doubting I've missed something though.
The maths the graphs are based on.
For a start, they have twice as many deaths for the UK over the last 3 days as has actually happened.

Bizarrely the French model is undercooked.

Should of gone to Costco. Cheese was buy one get one free. I panic bought a pack. I have to grate it myself so I’m not sure I’ve got such a bargain.
Don’t forget to wear a face mask and something to cover your eyes when going to places like supermarkets. Gives you a bit more protection against the numpties.
You can wash your hands When you get back home.
