Not wishing to politicize your discussion further, but I think the current circumstances could provide the UK with the opportunity to train far more nurses and indeed doctors from within its own population. Purely based on the physical constraints, which may have an effect for a couple of years, I cannot envisage universities being in a position to run a cap on the number of UK doctors/nurses and top up their coffers with high-paying foreign candidates. There will also, unfortunately, be a larger pool of unemployed people in the UK, who may come to see a career in nursing as a more attractive proposition. Either way, the situation needs to change as the country cannot rely on external sources from which it may be unable to draw. :-)
