The Northants Chief Constable is just a **** for coming out with a comment as fucking stupid as that, just not helpful whatsoever.

However, imo, nothing wrong with what Jenrick or Kinnock did, that’s exactly the same as what I’m doing on a weekly basis - I don’t want my 80 year old mother leaving her house so I’m doing the shopping and dropping it off whilst not getting within 5 metres of her and the house. Gives me a chance to see her in the flesh too as opposed to via FaceTime etc, worth it’s weight in gold to both me and my mum.

I know what you are saying about that bit of contact Rammy. I am on complete lockdown and my mum dropped me off some bits of shopping and a Sunday dinner last weekend. She left them on the front wall and then retreated to her car, where we had a chat for a few minutes. Just to see someone you love, encourage each other and say it is going to be ok was a massive pick me up.

If they're testing footballers just so they can finish the season, when people who are ill, but don't know if its the virus can't get tested then I won't be watching any of it on TV, football, its authorities, and the broadcast media can f**k off with its totally selfish attitudes.

I understand what you are saying mate but testing the footballers and getting them playing again might actually save lives. People are going mad at home. If for example they played one match on the Friday night, 4 on the Saturday, 4 on the Sunday and then the last on the Monday night, had them on on TV, then a lot of people would stay in watching the football.
We are still miles away from that point. Yet if it was safe to do so, I think getting football back would be a good idea.

If City play so much as one league game behind closed doors, I’ll stop going completely.
Football is dead without a crowd, the only ones advocating it not to be the case are armchair supporters.

Not at all mate I've had a season ticket for 26 years go home and as many seats as possible. If they don't get games going behind closed doors when they say it could ruin football, they're not lying. People will say they're only doing it for the money etc, well if it's a case of do it for the money to survive or be able to take a moral standing I know which I'd do. Tens of thousands of peoples jobs are at risk the same as any industry.

Number of cases in Europe are slowing down, granted the deaths are high because of a three week lag. I expect normal life to resume at the end of May, or am I being optimistic?
Phased return. One step at a time. Going to the game is normality. How I look forward to that.

The choice will be scrapping the 2019/20 season or playing it behind closed doors. We aren't going to have fans in the grounds for months.
I don’t mind whatever is decided. Liverpool can win the World Cup and the bestest team in the Universe trophy.
But if football goes ahead without the fans then it’s actually telling me I am not required to be there, so I won’t.

I'm firmly in the 'football can go fuck itself' camp if footballers are to be tested just to generate that PL money. Would possibly be the most selfish thing I've ever heard of.
I agree!

Spoke to the daughter yesterday who works as a midwife at a Yorkshire hospital and she is so shocked at what is happening. Normally she is at the birth stage of life with very occasional still births, now the whole hospital sees life and death intermingled with risk and overwork her stressed out daily mental state.
She used to love her job and got her Masters Degree with hospital help but now seems terrified of what she will find at work.
PTSD after this will be awful.

What's selfish about trying to get an industry back up and running to save tens of thousands of jobs? Pretty sure you wouldn't be saying it about any other industry. People have been brainwashed that much by the press about big bad football sometimes they can't see past their nose.

Let’s open all the pubs, cinemas and restaurants as well then. They’re all going to the wall but I don’t see the media constantly going on about them starting.
If you think football is ok to play behind closed doors then that’s your prerogative.
Football, to me, is there for the fans. If the fans are not there, then neither is football.

The things you mentioned will be open before football resumes. You can keep watching re-runs of murder she wrote then whilst we enjoy football back on TV.

I agree except to the point where it will actually help out the mental health side of lockdown if there's live football every day.

Also, it's fine for a Man City supporter to say that but there are a lot of clubs in the lower leagues that would be in grave danger of going out of business.

I personally couldn't give a toss but it might be that playing without fans is something that simply has to be done for a number of reasons.

If you're advocating canceling the football season and starting again when fans can go back, you're running the risk of a lot of clubs going under and complete financial chaos in football. I don't know the financial consequences tbh but I have heard that broadcasting money and sponsorships would be at threat.

Would that be just while they are playing behind closed doors, and then would you start going again when the doors are opened. ?

As someone with severe depression, I get that. But no, its not worth it.

Well let's take the example of the players being called out by Hancock. How much crap was written on the back of that about the game when the players were putting plans in place already.

Look at the comments on here saying they won't watch it if they start with no fans because it's greedy. It's not greedy, it's saving their businesses.

If it’s behind closed doors they won’t need stewards, catering staff, police, ticket office staff, merchandising staff. So it won’t be protecting their jobs will it. All the jobs in football could be saved if the actual clubs looked after their staff during this time of crisis. One game behind closed doors and I’m done, will I get a refund on my season ticket for the games missed? I doubt it.

Football can fuck itself the minute they go done down that route.

They can scrap next season if they like, finish this season off whenever they can and invent some one off thing for next year if they so wish, but the first game behind closed doors, with players turning up on coaches, staying in hotels, and ambulances, paramedics and coppers in attendance, will look awful whilst people are still dying from this virus.

Wonder how many people up and down the country will stop going next season cause of this

You could argue this for all sports tho. Plenty of people don't care about football. The rest of my household wouldn't care if another ball was never kicked again.
What about rugby? Both codes, clubs are facing same problems, get those leagues restarted too, all players tested whilst nurses still can't?
Cricket, horse racing, hockey, netball, etc
The easiest to get going would probably be golf, no caddies, one at a time.
